Ajram was born on May 16th, 1983 to Nabil Ajram and Rimonda Oun, as the eldest of two siblings, Nadine Nariman Ajram and Nabil Ajram Jr. She started singing at the age of eight, when she appeared for the first time in 1991 at a singing contest for kids on national television in Lebanon. In 1995, at the age of twelve, Nancy Ajram took part in the entertainment show, Noujoum Al-Moustakbal, ("Stars of the Future"), a Lebanese television musical competition, winning a gold medal in the Tarab category after singing a song by Umm Kulthum.
Ajram studied music following her early success with renowned Lebanese musicians and although she was less than 18 years old, the syndicate of professional artists in Lebanon accepted her as a member because they found her to be an exceptional talent and deserved to be qualified as a professional artist. Shortly afterwards Nancy released her first album, Mihtagalak ("I Need You') in 1998, with most of its songs holding a pure Tarab style, thus starting her music career at the age of 15. It was followed by Sheel Oyoonak Anni ("Take Your Eyes Off Of Me") in 2000, which achieved more success.

Aktar we aktar
Asle enta faker eni enta shater
Kan gheirek ashtar
Ya bni el hagate di adet alina
Adet we yama shafet aynina
Ou ahna lessa hanaido tani
Mesh rah atekbar
W ena ensa ensa eli amelto
Fe ha'i elbi
Youm enta shaghelto
Kan elbi tayeb
Ya bou elb anani
Haoul eih tani
Baad eli ana oulto
Bass eli zaye el wardi tegarah
Men kotr garho
Ma baash fe matrah
Leek ou lel geirek
Abaad we ensani
Da eli kasarto omro ma yetsalah
Asmaa aoulek khod elbek we amshi
Ena mosh hasahar alashanek remshi

Wala youm hayegi asahar wala nemshi
Ena men leila di
Ena mosh hadari we men el saa di

The lyrics of Nancy Ajram's song Saharni Sahar convey a deep sense of longing and heartbreak. The singer talks about how she has stayed up all night, more and more, thinking that the person she loves is smarter and more capable than her. This person, however, has become arrogant towards her and other people around them.
The singer then mentions how this person believed she would not be able to forget them, but the singer has forgotten everything the person had done to her in her heart. She talks about how she kept herself busy to avoid thinking about the person, and while her heart was once warm and loving towards them, it is now cold and distant. The singer also mentions that the person she loves has become like a thorn that she cannot remove from her heart.
The last lines of the song are about the singer's willingness to move on from this person and to take control of her destiny. She urges the person to do the same and to stop staying up all night to think of her and instead move on with their life. The song is a heartfelt expression of the pain and confusion that comes with a broken relationship.
