Unfit Earth
Napalm Death䐀 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Looking from outside inwards
A view to dumbfound the most outspoken minds
Silent screams from an unfit Earth
Battered and bruised with nowhere to hide

Disasters man made and natural
Gradually pushing to absolute imbalance
On the scales of survival
Soon to tip in favour if extinction

An unrelenting dioxin cloud
Propelled to dispel our oxygen
Slowly seizing up our lungs
And choking the ground we depend upon

Silent screams from an unfit Earth
Battered and bruised with nowhere to hide
Transforming aquatic inhabitance
Overcome by cocktails of sludge and chemicals

Interfering with life on which so many rely
Then dumping our shit to economise
Wanton destruction
Environment in regression

All reverse into decline
Kiss this unfit goodbye

Silent screams from an unfit Earth
A future of provocation with nowhere to go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Napalm Death's song Unfit Earth offer a bleak and sobering look at the current state of our planet. From an outsider's perspective, it is clear that our actions have brought us to a point where our own survival is threatened. The silent screams from Earth are those of a planet battered and bruised, left with nowhere to hide from the disasters we have created through our reckless disregard for the environment.

The scale of the damage caused by both man-made and natural disasters has pushed us towards an absolute imbalance. We are on the brink of extinction, with the scales of survival about to tip in favor of our downfall. The unrelenting dioxin cloud threatens our very existence, as it slowly seizes up our lungs and chokes the ground we depend upon.

Our actions have transformed aquatic inhabitance, which is now overcome by cocktails of sludge and chemicals that interfere with life on which so many rely. We are guilty of wanton destruction, as we dump our waste to economize. The result is an environment in regression, as everything reverses into decline. The only future we face is one of provocation with nowhere to go.

sometimes i think there should be collab albums of entire team ups of 3 or 4 singers at the same time doing all the vocals :) that's what i think that should happen with six feet under's last... monstrosity, the whole album re recorded (the vocals) with different singers, barnes is just over...

This album stands alone and through the test of time. A fuckin masterpiece. I got the cassette tape in the early 90s and still have it the lone tape player I own. Legendary album, if you were around back then... It changed the game.

I first saw them on a bbc2 documentary with this goth female interviewer and she asks why do you play in minor keys and the guitarist goes, cos it sounds sadder!

This is, in my opinion, their best album. It fucking crushes.

Barney Greenway just sounds so damn badass. This is why it's my favorite album. Some people may like FETO the best but Barney crushes Lee as a vocalist
