Raised in Bernie, Missouri where he attended Bernie High School, Felts was discovered during a talent show at the school. He had been encouraged to participate in the show by some of his classmates, and it just so happened that a talent agent was attending the performance at the time.
Felts recorded his first single "Kiss-a Me Baby" at the age of 16, and his career skyrocketed with the help of Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash. He went on to release such songs as "Lonely Teardrops" and "Pink And Black Days", but it wasn't until the 1970s when he began enjoying success on a national level as a country singer.
His first major hit came in 1973, with a cover of Dobie Gray's "Drift Away". Felts' version — No. 8 on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart in September 1973 — was mid-tempo country compared to Gray's blues version. The follow-up single, "All in the Name of Love," just missed hitting the top 10 in December 1973.
Felts continued to enjoy modest success during the next year and a half, when he signed with ABC-Dot Records in 1975. That year, he enjoyed his biggest hit: "Reconsider Me," which showcased his falsetto and high tenor. The song reached No. 2 that August, and was 1975's second-biggest country hit of the year[1].
Felts, who became known to fans as "Narvel the Marvel," continued to enjoy success throughout the 1970s. Included in his streak of hits was a remake of "Lonely Teardrops," which became his last top 10 hit in the summer of 1976; and a cover of Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away."
Narvel Felts pioneering contribution to the genre has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

Yes, it's really me
After all the wrong I've done
I guess you're
Surprised to see me
Here at your door like
A sparrow with a broken wing
Oh, reconsider me
Oh, please reconsider me
I can't make it
Without your love
Can't you see
So, let me, just let me
Love you eternally
Oh, baby, baby, baby
Baby, baby, baby
Reconsider me
I learned the truth about
The so-called good life
It was just a candle
Too short to burn the night
Now, here in the
Darkness in my heart
Don't you know I
Bring to you in plea
Oh, light my way again
Light my way again
And, girl, reconsider me
Oh, please reconsider me
I can't make it
I can't make it
Without you, girl
Can't you see
So, just love me
Love me
Let me love you eternally
Oh, baby, baby, oh, baby
Reconsider me
If you got any feelings for me
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Baby, oh, baby
The song "Reconsider Me" by Narvel Felts is a plea from a man to his lover. He acknowledges that he has done wrong in the past but despite that, he has come back to her door like a wounded bird, asking her to reconsider him. He pleads with her to let him love her eternally, as he cannot make it without her love. He realizes that the so-called good life he thought he had was just a temporary phase, and he wants her back in his life. The darkness in his heart signifies the void left by his lover's absence, and he requests her to light his way again by accepting him back.
The lyrics convey the depth of the man's love for his lover and the sincerity of his apology. He realizes that his actions have caused pain and separation but urges her to reconsider him, implying that he will make things right. The use of the sparrow with a broken wing as a metaphor for himself is particularly poignant. He acknowledges his frailty and hurt, and his plea for forgiveness is genuine. The repetition of the phrase "baby, baby, baby" at the end of the song reinforces the urgency and sincerity of his plea, hoping that his lover will reciprocate his feelings.

These are the good old days
People today just don't appreciate
the luxuries and leisure time we
have today. People in my parent's
time didn't have anything and had
to work hard for everything they
had. I can't imagine someone these
days drawing up enough water
with a bucket so they could wash
off, or wash dishes, or wash their
other set of the 2 sets of clothes they have. That's just ONE thing.

As FANTASTIC as this song is and amazing as Narvel sings it, I have to say the girls singing back-up deserve a lot of credit also.
"The Sugar Sweets" backed a lot of songs for Freddie Fender's hits and probably a lot of others.
