Too Late
Natalia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You said you'd taken it down uhu uhu
Is that my number on speed dial?
Guess it's taking you awhile uhu uhu
You go around like we're done
But we've only begun
You might as well
If it's too late
Why are we talking on the telephone?
If it's too late
Why do I always get to take you home?
If it's too late
If we are over
Should be colder
You're not walking away
Why do you stay
Is this the way you say goodbye
You should try a little harder uhu uhu
Cause your drivin me insane
Your convictions always change uhu uhu
You go around
Like we're done
But we've only begun
Tell the truth to yourself
You might as well
Stop pretending we're breaking up
We should be trying to make it up
Don't you know what you mean to me
Don't play me too much
Enough is enough
It's too late ' too late
The song Too Late by Natalia speaks about a relationship that seems to have already ended but the two people involved are still in denial. The first verse talks about the singer's picture still being on the other person's wall despite them having claimed to have taken it down. There's also a suggestion that the other person still has the singer's number saved on speed dial, which may suggest that they are not over the singer yet. However, the person seems to be dragging their feet in confessing their true feelings.
The chorus of the song is a question asked by the singer to the other person. They question why they are still talking on the phone and why the other person always ends up coming home with them. They seem to suggest that if the relationship has truly ended, the other person should be colder and wouldn't be sticking around. But they are confused as to why the other person keeps 'playing' with their feelings.
The second verse expands on this confusion, with the singer being driven insane by the other person's constantly changing convictions. They accuse the other person of not trying hard enough and of pretending they're breaking up. The end of the song is a plea for the other person to stop playing with their feelings and confess their true intentions, as it is "too late" for games and pretending.
Overall, the song portrays the pain and confusion that comes with a relationship that has ended but one party hasn't moved on yet. It also suggests how important it is to be truthful and honest about one's feelings.
