East
Nate In Public Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, I awoke with all the words dripping from my lips, hoping all my heroes hands had shed their skin of them. 'Cause all that's left inside of me - ideas I could not reason with, the scenes of life that I'd miss, the summer on her skin.

And everyone I know still has their wings, and no one ever changes a thing for me, and questions always sound the same and ask the same thing. So I'll do all that I can to get free.

And there's no time to keep our toes in line, but we all watch the world spin around us. And we all know what it's worth to see our children come back home, however long it takes.

Overall Meaning

In Nate In Public's song "East," the lyrics speak to the idea of feeling trapped and wanting to break free from societal norms and expectations. The opening lines immediately set the tone for the rest of the song as the singer wakes up with words spilling from their lips, feeling suffocated by the ideas and scenes of life they can't make sense of. The line "hoping all my heroes hands had shed their skin of them" suggests that even those we admire and look up to may also be struggling with the same issues of feeling constrained by societal expectations.

The chorus emphasizes the feeling of being stuck and stagnant, with the singer feeling as though everyone around them is free to fly while they are left behind. The repetition of the phrase "no one ever changes a thing for me" speaks to a sense of hopelessness, feeling like there's no way out of their current situation. However, they still have a determination to find a way to break free, willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

The final lines of the song bring a glimmer of hope with the image of children coming back home, however long it takes. This suggests that while it may be a difficult and slow process, there is still a possibility of finding a way to break free and find a sense of home and comfort.

Thankyou Nate! Unlike other news stations that claim to be unbiased and fact driven I feel you are one of the only journalists on this case that truly is. I know you have opinions but you really try to give us just the facts. And I love the tributes to the victims at the end. Overall you’re the only one I trust to cover this heartbreaking case with professionalism, intelligence and compassion. Thankyou!

Lori seems to be living in a parallel universe. When Colby came to testify against her, she said “that’s my baby”, and now she’s saying “I took this picture” or “that’s my friend”. It’s like she completely dissociated from these horrendous crimes and still lives in a world where she takes cute pictures of her kids and has friends.

@A Wright🎯🎯🎯🎯I have an ex who is a narcissistic sociopath- it’s a living hell to be the victim of their delusions of grandeur. Their self- righteous, above the laws and rules of decent humanity and zero accountability or acknowledgment that they could’ve ever been wrong or actions evil: torture for their victims.

That's pretty common for narcissistic sociopaths. It's not delusion so much as not caring about the things we care about. She doesn't care about the people she killed, just herself. The things that make her happy are the things that have to do with her. I took that picture, that's MY friend, etc. That's why she believed in what Chad was saying because it made her an important goddess. 🙄
