How Could I Love Her So Much
Nathan Carter Lyrics

I saw him alone at the bar.
I went over to him
Said you may not know me
But I sure do know who you are
Don't worry my anger was spent long ago
And only the memory remainsBut lord how I suffered, sometimes I still wonder
And maybe now you can explain
Tell me how could I love her so much
And then lose her so quickly to someone like you
How did you know how to hold her and please her
How did you know what to do
After all of the time I spent learning to love her
And be what she needed me to
Tell me how could I love her so much
And then lose her so quickly to someone like you
He said friend let me buy you a drink
And I'll tell you a story that's sad but it's true
How I loved her and held her till some drifter stole her
From me like I stole her from you
I guess no one can own her, her heart's like a
Soldier Of fortune, her love's like the wind
Still all I can think of is finding her new love
And asking this question of him
How could I love her so much
And then lose her so quickly to someone like youHow did you know how to hold her and please her
How did you know what to do
After all of the time I spent learning to love her
And be what she needed me to
Tell me how could I love her so much
And then lose her so quickly to someone like you
How could I love her so much
And then lose her so quickly to someone like you
How did you know how to hold her and please her (fade out)
The lyrics speak about a man who had once loved a woman with all his heart and had lost her to another man. When he sees the man who took his love away, he confronts him and asks how he knew what to do to make her happy. The man responds with a story of his own heartbreak and how he lost her to another man, just as the first man had lost her to him. The song is a reflection on the unpredictability of love and how no one can own another person's heart.
The lyrics capture the pain and confusion that can come with losing someone we love deeply. The song speaks to the universal experience of heartbreak and the questions that linger even after the relationship has ended. The words evoke a sense of longing and regret, as the singer wonders what he could have done differently to keep the woman he loved. The song also touches on the theme of fate and the idea that perhaps some things are meant to be, even if we don't understand why.
