In a world gripped with fear, this is a soundworld that refuses boarders and genre classification, promoting unity and a deeper level of understanding of ourselves and our relationship to the earth.
Drawn together by keyboardist Sam Crowe (Cinematic Orchestra, Matthew Herbert, Rosie Lowe), bass player Jonathan Harvey (Ethan Johns, Bill Laurence, Cinematic Orchestra) and vocalist Frida Touray (Lianne La Havas), the band have established themselves as one of the freshest live acts to come out of the London creative music scene in recent memory.
EP Vol.I was supported by key taste makers including Gilles Peterson on BBC 6 Music and many blogs and international stations, being described by Stamp The Wax as “The new troubadours of psychedelic-soul”.
In 2015 they performed many of their own shows including Gaeta Jazz Festival in Italy and some key support slots including Village Underground opening for Liv Warfield (Prince) and RichMix opening for Mark Guiliana’s (David Bowie) Beat Music.
EP Vol.II is 3 new songs that speak of the struggles of the human condition; love and compassion, the nature of death and passing through this temporary incarnation we call ‘life’.
The music was all produced and recorded at Native Dancer’s studio in East London, which is the creative and experimental sound-lab for their work.
After finding success in Japan with EP Vol.I, they are releasing EP Vol.I and II as a double disc in Japan on Japanese label Inpartmaint and self releasing EP Vol.II worldwide, in April.
Expect beat driven songs with soulful vocals, searching lyrics and glitchy, trip-hopy, psychedelic, soundscapes that will take you on a multi-dimensional journey.

All that I have ever known
Is caught in every word
All matters are emotional
Can't you see the truth
Never underestimate the power of a woman's love
Leave it with me now
It'll keep me warm
I'm following the edge of every line
Wondering what war will calmly leave without a fight
And I'm tired of losing
Someone like you, will never be alone.
I'm following the edge of every line
Wondering what war will calmly leave without a fight
And I'm tired of losing
I'm tracing your outline, cause you're all I know
I'm tracing your outline, cause you're all I know
Someone like you
Someone like you (Ooooh)
Someone like you (Ooooh)
Ooooh
I'm following the edge of every line
Wondering what war will calmly leave without a fight
And I'm tired of losing
Someone like you, will never be alone.
I'm following the edge of every line
Wondering what war will calmly leave without a fight
And I'm tired of losing
And I'm tired of losing
And I'm tired of losing (Ooooh)
Someone like you
Ooooh
The lyrics of Native Dancer's song "Transitions" seem to be about a longing for love and connection with someone else, even when things are uncertain and scary. The singer is asking to be heard, and expressing that everything they know is tied up in their emotions. They remind the listener not to underestimate the power of a woman's love - this could be a statement about the strength and resilience of women in general or a nod to a specific person in the singer's life. The line "leave it with me now, it'll keep me warm" suggests that the singer is holding onto some hope or comfort, even if just in their thoughts, to get them through a difficult period.
The chorus of the song repeats the idea that the singer is following the edge of every line - this could be a metaphor for feeling on the brink or walking a tightrope, never sure what's going to happen next. The mention of war and losing could hint at more serious and far-reaching struggles beyond just a personal relationship. However, the repeated refrain "someone like you will never be alone" is a reassurance that there is someone out there who understands and is willing to stand by the singer.
Overall, "Transitions" is a heartfelt plea for connection and understanding, and a reminder that even in uncertain times, love and hope can provide warmth and comfort.
