No One's Here To Sleep
Naughty Boy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every carpet, every floor
Everywhere I look, I fall
Climbing up the walls
I'm climbing up the walls
What goes on behind these doors
I'll keep mine and you'll keep yours
We all have our secrets
We all have our secrets

Behind every door
Is a fall, a fall and
No one's here to sleep

You were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me
And you were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me

Here's the pride before the fall
Oh, your eyes, they show it all
I can see it coming
I can see it coming
As I rise up through each floor
Shit gets dark and you lose it all
I can hear it coming
I can hear the drumming

Behind every door
Is a fall, a fall and
No one's here to sleep

You were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me
And you were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me

You were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me
And you were always faster than me
I'll never catch up with you, with you
Oh I can feel them coming for me

(You were always faster than me
I will always catch up with you)

Overall Meaning

In "No One's Here To Sleep," Naughty Boy paints a haunting and tense picture that explores the secrets and fears that lurk behind closed doors. The repeated line "Behind every door, Is a fall, a fall and, No one's here to sleep" quickly establishes a sense of unease and implies that something terrible is happening. The imagery of climbing up the walls and the lyrics "I can see it coming, I can hear the drumming" evoke a feeling of desperation and impending danger.

The song also touches on the idea of comparison and the pressure to keep up with others. The lines "You were always faster than me, I'll never catch up with you" suggest that the singer is struggling to keep pace with someone else, possibly in terms of success or achievement. The repeated refrain "Oh, I can feel them coming for me" adds to the sense of tension and anxiety that permeates the song.

"No One's Here To Sleep" showcases Naughty Boy's talent for building a sense of atmosphere and creating a mood through his music. The use of a haunting piano melody, ominous strings, and atmospheric synths add to the feeling of unease and tension. The vocals from Bastille's Dan Smith are also a highlight of the track, perfectly conveying the sense of fear and vulnerability in the lyrics.

DAMN... did EVERYBODY fall in love with this song from "How To Get Away With Murder"?!
Certainly seems like it!
I don't know if this is also  Shonda Rimes doing, but she has GREAT soundtracks for ALL of her shows...

So far, I got hooked on the following artists from her shows:

1.  Tegan and Sara -- "Where Does The Good Go" (Grey's Anatomy, episode where Meredith and Christina have their last dance)
2.  Amos Lee --"Colors" -- (Grey's Anatomy, at the "prom"... episode where Denny dies)
3.  Fran Healy --"In The Morning" (Private Practice, episode where Cooper finds out Charlotte was raped)

*There are more... these are just my TOP THREE so far...or rather, TOP FOUR, now that I found THIS SONG above!

The scene were Annalise took off her wig, eye lashes and makeup really stood out for me. I felt like she wanted to cry everytime she wiped the makeup off her face, but her strength prevented her from doing so - she had to keep herself composed, at least that's what I thought. An incredibly powerful scene, with great music to add to the suspense. Viola Davis is an astonishing actress.

it’s like apologise from one republic but heavier and kind of sadder bc of the “lack of emotion” compared to apologise
