Santa Baby
Naya Rivera Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Santa baby,
Slip a sable under the tree for me
I've been an awful good girl
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby,
An outer space convertible too, light blue
I'll wait up for you, dear
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've missed
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed
Next year I could be oh-so good
If you check off my check off my Christmas list
Boo doop ee doo

Santa honey,
I want a yacht and really that's not a lot
I've been an angel all year
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa cutie,
There's one thing I really do need,
The deed to a platinum mine
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby,
I'm filling my stocking with a duplex and checks,
sign your 'X' on the line
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Come and trim my Christmas tree
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's
I really do believe in you
Let's see if you believe in me
Boo doop ee doo

Santa baby forgot to mention one little thing,
A ring
I don't mean a phone

Santa baby and hurry down the chimney tonight,

Hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney, tonight

Overall Meaning

In Naya Rivera's version of "Santa Baby," the lyrics are playful and flirty as she sings to Santa, asking for luxurious gifts. The first verse asks for a sable fur, and then proceeds to ask for a light blue convertible and the deed to a platinum mine. She uses the phrase "Santa baby" multiple times to show her affectionate tone towards Santa. The chorus repeats the request for Santa to hurry down the chimney tonight, indicating her eagerness to receive the lavish gifts she has asked for. In the second verse, she mentions how she has been an angel all year and has missed out on fun experiences, but promises to be good next year if Santa checks off her Christmas list. She also asks for a yacht, a duplex, and checks as gifts.

Overall, the song portrays a seductive and playful tone as Naya Rivera sings to Santa, with each request becoming more extravagant than the previous one.

i think they cut it out because you could see the camera man in the mirror at 2:45

Back then, there was a huge criticism -and honestly, it was a very valid criticism since the third season have a lot of controversies regarding the whole "Santana being outed by Finn" debacle - regarding the way they represented Santana's orientation. Like, there was even a theory(a terrible one, if I may add) that Santana was in love with Finn and wasn't a real lesbian. So, due to the gigantic back-slashing created by the handling of those matters, they decided to avoid the issue all together by scrapping those scenes, including this moment.
I think if the writers had taken more care with the way they handled Santana's outing, this scene and others wouldn't need to be discarded. I mean, they could have changed the situation, like, instead of Santana mocking Finn out of nowhere and his disproportionate reaction by outing her, they could have made more about her family not accepting her and Finn and Brittany actually defending her from her parent's homophobia, which in turn would make Santana realize that Finn actually was someone worth of her respect and would solve the whole "Brittany being mute when she needed to help her girlfriend" issue. It also would explain her change of character in later episodes. Yes, they did try to fix Brittany, but this entire matter could have been avoided if they took more care with those characters.
Still, I watch this scene and I get sad that it was cut due to bad writing.

@Tinaz LK what if she was kicked out of her house and Kurt and Finn offered her to move in with them untill she went to college? That would be one great storyline and it'd make sense because Burt said he would help her, Kurt obviously would and Finn pretty much had the obligation after what he did

i like how they are supposed to be 17 year olds and Cory looks 30 while santana looks like a victoria secrets model.

cindy Jenkins

he was like either 29 or 30

Andy D

@cindy Jenkins so basically 30 yeah he looks like a young 30 and hes supposed to be 17 here lol

J. Gonzales

ngl I thought Finn looked way too old when I was like 13, but now that I'm in their age Finn...actually looks like a normal white teenage boy. It's characters like Puck that look wayyy to old to be a highschooler lmao

Andy D

@J. Gonzales finn looks 30
