Nee-hi began his artistic journey at the early age of 11, taking things much more seriously into his mid teens and focusing fully on forming a career from then. From the age of 12 he was active in grime sets and ciphers where he would learn his trade. After constant practice and writing, at 14 years of age, Nee-hi became part of a crew known as ‘Ear to the Street’. The crew worked independently to record and put out a mix tape and a DVD which featured ‘Roll Deep’. They worked extremely hard together to get recognised and to gain the interest of people in the Ipswich area. They soon proved they were the best, when E2DS won a ‘DJ cup clash’ competition which involved a number of Ipswich’s local talents.
As his music began to progress, Nee-hi brought out an independent mix tape called ‘The Story Book’ which centred around creatively conveying stories through lyrics. This idea derived from the Slick Rick album, ‘The Art of Storytelling’. Nee-hi has always been a fan of the Hip-Hop renaissance of the late 1980's and has been largely influenced by groups such as: The Natives Tongues Posse, Rakim and Krs-One.
His most recent E.P is ‘The Delorean’ has had an extremely positive response. Drawing inspiration from 80's cult classic movie “Back to the Future”, it focused on the idea of ‘time travelling through music’ so every song corresponds to a different point in time and draws its style from the Zeitgeist of that era. This is typical of the experimentation and imagination Nee-hi attempts to bring to his music.
At present Nee-Hi has been working almost constantly with Danny C from Aim Records and has completed the recording of his new L.P 'Houston we have an L.P' which is due out in November for FREE download and CD.
Nee-Hi started working with Danny C in mid July of 2010 and a couple of months after that had a new L.P completed featuring collaborations with local Ipswich artists but also P-Money and Sketchman who he is in talks with, about shooting videos for the separate tracks they feature on. Nee-Hi has already got a few starting tracks of another project. He has also shot two videos with Jacuzzi Films who are responsible for shooting videos for artists such as Devlin, Fugative, JMC and more.
Despite being a music artist, Nee-hi has shown he also has talent with writing in other areas. He has written a number of poems and performed these to audiences across the country, in places such as Ipswich, Norwich, Diss, Bedford and Manchester. His experience in poetry has enabled him to better understand the complexity of being a lyricist and helped shape the intricate wordplay apparent in his latest work.

Doing circles in my mind they never seem to stop
Been going on for ages now
I've wished and prayed to have another glance at you
But I cannot turn back time
Time doesn't wait for me
I'm hoping for a silver line
To escape this timeless dreamAll this time's escaped my mind
Without a leash it runs free
I'm hanging on the borderline
So won't you stay with me
Been trying long and hard to forget
For what has seemed to be my whole entire life
Time and time again I wonder why
I can't seem to get the thought of you out of my head
But I cannot turn back time
Time doesn't wait for me
I'm hoping for a silver line
To escape this timeless dream
All this time's escaped my mind
Without a leash it runs free
I'm hanging on the borderline
So won't you stay with me
When I'm thinking
There on my own
All alone
The nights get cold
But I know
Deep down inside
The feelings long ago
Are just as hard to hide
But I cannot turn back time
Time doesn't wait for meI'm hoping for a silver line
To escape this timeless dream
All this time's escaped my mind
Without a leash it runs free
I'm hanging on the borderline
So won't you stay with me
But I cannot turn back time
Time doesn't wait for me
I'm hoping for a silver line
To escape this timeless dream
All this time's escaped my mind
Without a leash it runs free
I'm hanging on the borderline
So won't you stay with me
The lyrics of Nee-Hi's song "Back in Time" express a deep longing to go back to a moment in the past, to turn back the clocks and have another chance to be with someone special. The singer mentions how thoughts of this person constantly circle in their mind, yet time continues to move forward relentlessly. Despite the fervent wishes and prayers for a chance to reunite with this individual, the reality remains that time cannot be reversed. There is a sense of frustration and helplessness in the face of this unyielding march of time, as the singer yearns for a glimmer of hope to break free from the confines of this endless yearning.
The lyrics convey a sense of desperation as the singer grapples with the inability to forget and move on from the memories of the past. The repetitive nature of the longing and the constant questioning of why these thoughts persist highlight the singer's struggle to reconcile with the passage of time. The motif of “hanging on the borderline” suggests a precarious emotional state, teetering between holding onto the past and striving to find a way forward. The mention of trying “long and hard to forget” underscores the persistent effort to overcome the grip of nostalgia and the desire for a different outcome.
As the song progresses, the singer delves into the solitude and cold nights that accompany deep introspection. Despite the external facade of stoicism, the internal turmoil and emotional turmoil are unveiled, revealing the profound impact of unresolved feelings and unrequited desires. The reference to feelings that are “just as hard to hide” signifies the enduring nature of emotions that refuse to be suppressed, even as time marches on relentlessly. The plea for the other person to “stay with me” echoes a plea for companionship and solace in the face of this internal turmoil and the overwhelming weight of memories.
Ultimately, the lyrics come full circle, emphasizing the inevitability of time’s passing and the inability to alter the past. The repeated refrain of "But I cannot turn back time, Time doesn't wait for me" encapsulates the central theme of acceptance and resignation to the unchangeable nature of time. The search for a “silver line” to escape the “timeless dream” alludes to a desire for resolution and closure, a way to break free from the cycle of longing and regrets. The song ends on a poignant note, with the singer still “hanging on the borderline” between past and present, yearning for a sense of connection and hoping for a sense of peace amidst the relentless march of time.
