And now, the end is here
As everything comes to a close and the final chapter of my life has been written

And so I face the final curtain
I am now at the end of my journey and ready to face whatever lies beyond

I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
I have carefully planned and considered each decision and taken each step with purpose

And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Every decision, every step, has been driven by my own personal goals and objectives

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
There have been occasions where I may have pushed too hard

When I bit off more than I could chew
When I took on more than I was capable of handling

But through it all, when there was doubt
Despite the challenges, I never let doubt take control over my decisions or my life

I ate it up and spit it out
I took it all in stride and did what I had to do to succeed

I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I tackled it all, remaining stoic in the toughest of times, and did so according to my own convictions

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I have experienced the full range of emotions that come with life

I've had my fill, my share of losing
I have experienced hardships and loss like anyone else

And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
With the benefit of hindsight, I find humor in the ups and downs of my life

To think I did all that
It's astounding to consider everything I have accomplished

And may I say, not in a shy way,
I say without reservation or hesitation

"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"
That all of my achievements and struggles have come as a result of my own choices and decisions

For what is a man, what has he got?
What defines a person, what have they really accomplished?

If not himself, then he has naught
Being true to oneself and one's own goals is everything

To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
To speak honestly and not bend to the expectations of others

The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
My accomplishments are a testament to taking every hit along the way and still ultimately achieving my dreams
