Munidos de instrumentos, batucavam nos intervalos das apresentações dos artistas, formando uma rodinha de pagode bem animada. Até que um dos organizadores do evento resolveu dar-lhes uma chance e numa bela tarde de domingo, aproximou-se. Todos pararam de tocar, imaginando que iriam levar uma bronca. E nesse momento foram questionados o porquê haviam parado de tocar. Então, o organizador disse-lhes que já vinha os observando há vários domingos e que estava adorando o grupo, surgindo assim um convite para que se apresentassem no palco da “Praça do Samba” no domingo posterior, convite aceito instantaneamente por Claudinho. E ali naquele mesmo instante, fora perguntado o nome do grupo. Em virtude da emoção, quase gritando, Waguininho respondeu:

- É Negritude, é Negritude, é Negritude!

E assim, mesmo tremendo, Nênê completou:

– É Negritude Junior Senhor.

Ficava ali marcado o show para o próximo domingo, dia 18 de Maio de 1986, primeira apresentação do grupo num palco.
