From the 1960s to the 1980s, Diamond was one of the more successful pop music performers, scoring a number of hits. As critic William Ruhlmann writes, "as of 2001, he claimed worldwide record sales of 115 million copies, and as of 2002 he was ranked third, behind only Elton John and Barbra Streisand, on the list of the most successful adult contemporary artists in the history of the Billboard chart."[1] As of May 2005 he has sold 120 million records worldwide, including 48 million records in the U.S.[2]
Though his record sales declined somewhat after the 1980s, Diamond continues to tour successfully, and maintains a very loyal following. Diamond's songs have been recorded by a vast array of performers from many different musical genres.
Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984, and then in 2000 was given its Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the early part of 2011.
In 2008 Neil Diamond scored his first ever Billboard number one album with "Home Before Dark", the album also became his first studio album to get to number one in the UK.
I'm A Believer
Neil Diamond Lyrics

Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams
Then I saw her face
Now I'm a believer
I'm in love
I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried
I thought love was more or less a giving thing
Seems the more I gave the less I got
What's the use in trying
All you get is pain
When I needed sunshine I got rain
Then I saw her face
Now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I'm in love
I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried
The lyrics to Neil Diamond's song I'm A Believer talk about a person who has lost faith in love due to bad experiences. They believe that love is only true in fairy tales and it's not meant for them. The singer feels that love is out to get them, and all they experience is disappointment and pain. However, everything changes when they see the face of someone special. The moment they lay eyes on this person, they become a believer in love. There's not a trace of doubt in their mind, and they find themselves falling in love. They even admit that they couldn't leave this person if they tried.
The song talks about how love can change a person's perspective towards everything. Before they fell in love, the singer believed that love only existed in fairy tales and was not meant for them. However, after falling in love with someone, all their doubts vanished. They learned that love is real, and it's worth finding. Moreover, the song talks about the pain of unrequited love. The singer believed that the more they gave, the less they received. They were always trying to find sunshine but all they ever found was rain. But, everything changed when they met the right person.
Overall, the song I'm A Believer conveys how love can change a person's outlook towards life. It's about the great feeling of finding love and the pain of rejection. The lyrics are relatable and give a positive message that true love is worth finding.
