Sedaka wrote his 1959 hit "Oh! Carol" about his then-girlfriend, Carol Klein, later to become Carole King. In 1963, King released a humorous answer entitled "Oh Neil".
The Laughter In the Rain Songfacts says Sedaka's hits dried up when The Beatles arrived, but then he teamed up with the lyricist Philip Cody and had a a number 1 hit with "Laughter In The Rain." It re-ignited Sedaka's career and he had 6 more Top-40 hits in America by 1977.
Sedaka's voice is in the tenor range.

Think of me babe whenever
Some sweet talking guy comes along singing his song
Don't mess around,
You got to be strong
Just stop, 'cause I really love you
Stop, I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
You, you belong to me now
Ain't gonna set you free now
When those guys start hanging around talking me down
Hear with your heart and you won't hear a sound
Just stop, 'cause I really love you
Stop, I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
Whatever young and beautiful
Someday your looks will be gone
When the others turn you off
Who'll be turning you on
I will, I will, I will, I will
Be there to share forever
Love will keep us together
Said it before and I'll say it again while others pretend
I'll need you now and I'll need you then
Stop 'cause I really love ya
Stop I'll be thinking of ya
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
The lyrics to Neil Sedaka’s “Love Will Keep Us Together” present a declaration of love that is resilient and built to withstand any challenge. Sedaka is urging his partner to remain loyal and steadfast to their love, particularly when other “sweet talking guy[s]” start to come around. Though these guys may have their own melodies, Sedaka promises that none can match the jingle of “love love” that will resonate in their hearts. In fact, he explicitly provides instructions on how to hold on to their love: “just stop” and “be strong.” Sedaka also affirms his own commitment in these verses, reflecting on how he will “be there to share forever” and that he has “said it before and [he’ll] say it again.”
Despite the beating drum of time, which takes away youth and beauty, Sedaka’s love will remain steadfast. He emotes that whilst “others turn [them] off,” he will be the person to turn them “on.” The song ends with a final plea for the listener to recognise the power of love, declaring that “love will keep us together.” The lyrics suggest that love is not only an intense feeling or emotion but an action and commitment that one must undertake in order to nurture and sustain a relationship.

@capitolia
