Crazy Horse is best known for its long association with Young, despite having released five albums of its own over a 19-year span. It has been co-credited with Young as Neil Young and Crazy Horse on 15 albums, "Americana" and "Psychedelic Pill" from 2012 being the latest.
The band recorded a concept album entitled "Greendale" (2003) that told the story using metaphors of murder and crime to represent the destruction of a small town community. The final song "Be The Rain" is one of Neil's classic epics, pleading for the world to be like the rain -- recycle and conserve to save our planet.

Everybody Knows This I Nowhere
Neil Young & Crazy Horse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And take it easy
There's a woman that I'd like to get to know
Livin' there
Everybody seems to wonder
What it's like down here
I gotta get away
Everybody knows this is nowhere
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
Everybody, everybody knows (la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Everybody knows, alright now
Every time I think about back home
It's cool and breezy
I wish that I could be there right now
Just passin' time
Everybody seems to wonder
What it's like down here
I gotta get away
From this day to day runnin' around
Everybody knows this is nowhere
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
Everybody knows (la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Everybody knows
Everybody knows (la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Everybody knows, everybody knows, oh yeah
Everybody knows, everybody knows (la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
Everybody knows, everybody knows (la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
The opening lines of Neil Young's song "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" seem to convey a feeling of a wanderer who has lost his direction and seeks solace in returning to his hometown. He talks about wanting to go back home and take it easy and of a woman he wants to get to know there. However, despite these desires, he is stuck in a place where everyone seems to be wondering what it's like elsewhere.
The chorus, "Everybody knows this is nowhere," seems to be a lamentation of his current state, where he feels lost and out of place. The second verse underscores this feeling of detachment and longing for a simpler life back home. He says he thinks about it often, and it's a place that feels cool and breezy - a stark contrast to where he currently is. The chorus then repeats, emphasizing the notion that everyone is aware of this sense of displacement and restlessness.
The song's lyrics can be interpreted as an expression of Neil Young's desire to escape the hectic lifestyle that often comes with being a famous musician. "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" was included on his second album of the same name, which was released in 1969. The album was recorded with his band, Crazy Horse, and marked the beginning of a long collaborative relationship between them. Interestingly, the band's name comes from the phrase "a horse with a lot of crazy energy" from the song's closing track, "The Last Trip to Tulsa."
