Their earliest albums were hard rock that drew heavily from the space-rock and Pink Floyd styles of the same period. The 70’s gave them the occasion to issue some masterpieces, like for example "A Tab in the Ocean (1972) "Remember the Future" (1973) and "Recycled" (1975). Each is a conceptual album that is a nice blend of melodic guitar and keyboards with a vocal story. "Journey To The Centre Of The Eye" is a mindblowing epic with lots of echoplex guitar and dual Mellotrons which is quite in tune with the Krautrock stuff going on around them, yet is definitely British. "Magic is a Child" had shorter songs and were less less satisfying.
Nektar's entire back catalogue has been re-vamped and remastered and is about to be re-issued in the USA, supported by a tour. A new Studio CD "Book of Days" is targeted for 20th March 2007 release on EMI - Caroline.
The band has recently been joined for their upcoming tour by the bass player Peter Pichl (Running Wild and other bands).
It's All Over
Nektar Lyrics

Be the one
That you will follow
Your world is so upside down 'cause
It's all over now
Take the high road and you'll
Take the low one
These moments seem so inside out
It's all over now
It's all over
See the daytime you've
Seen the darkness
I'm torn apart through those many changes
A feeling that you'll understand
It's all over now
See me walking and
Hear me talking I'll
Guide you all through those endless ages
Your world was so upside down but
It's all over now
It's all over
A feeling that you'll understand
It's all over
In this song, the singer describes a situation where everything seems to be upside down and inside out, and the only way to move forward is to accept that it's all over. The lyrics urge the listener to take the high road or the low road, to see both the bright and dark moments, and to understand that the changes that have occurred are irreversible. The singer offers to guide the listener through the endless ages, implying that there is hope for the future, but the first step is to accept the present and move on.
The repetition of the phrase "it's all over now" serves to reinforce the finality of the situation, and the use of imagery such as walking, talking, and passing hours creates a sense of movement and progression. The feeling that the singer promises the listener will understand is likely one of acceptance and closure.
Overall, the song presents a bittersweet message about the end of something, but also acknowledges that there is the potential for new beginnings and growth. It encourages the listener to face their situation head-on and take control of their own path forward.
