Their earliest albums were hard rock that drew heavily from the space-rock and Pink Floyd styles of the same period. The 70’s gave them the occasion to issue some masterpieces, like for example "A Tab in the Ocean (1972) "Remember the Future" (1973) and "Recycled" (1975). Each is a conceptual album that is a nice blend of melodic guitar and keyboards with a vocal story. "Journey To The Centre Of The Eye" is a mindblowing epic with lots of echoplex guitar and dual Mellotrons which is quite in tune with the Krautrock stuff going on around them, yet is definitely British. "Magic is a Child" had shorter songs and were less less satisfying.
Nektar's entire back catalogue has been re-vamped and remastered and is about to be re-issued in the USA, supported by a tour. A new Studio CD "Book of Days" is targeted for 20th March 2007 release on EMI - Caroline.
The band has recently been joined for their upcoming tour by the bass player Peter Pichl (Running Wild and other bands).

Of the deepest precipice
Are we just biding our time
'Til it all falls down
I believe
I believe that it's now
Oh it's now
What do you want with life
I said sit down here my friend
With the trouble and the strife
I believe
I believe that it's time
Oh it's time
Some come and some they go
No one really knows
It's so hard for me to see
How you all stand and bleed
I can see
I can see that it's now
Oh it's now
Oh it's now
Well an angel came down today, she said
What do you want from life
I said sit down here my friend, let me tell you
With the trouble and the strife
I believe
I believe that it's now
Oh it's now
It's now, it's now
I'm still standing on the edge
Of the deepest precipice
I'm still biding my time
'Til we all fall down
I believe
I believe that it's now
Oh, now
It's now, it's now
It's now
The song “Now” by the British prog-rock band Nektar is a contemplation on the fleeting nature of time and the precariousness of life. The opening lines paint a dark picture of standing on the edge of a precipice, symbolic of the fragile state of the world and the sense of impending doom that often looms over us. The lyrics then suggest that we may be just waiting for everything to fall apart, which reveals a deep sense of anxiety and pessimism about the future. However, the chorus insists that “it's now,” meaning that we need to take action and make the most of the present moment, rather than simply waiting for the inevitable.
The middle section of the song introduces an angelic figure who comes down to ask the singer what they want from life. This encounter seems to prompt a realization that they need to confront the troubles and strife that surround them rather than pushing them aside. The singer asserts that “it's time” to do so, further emphasizing the urgency of the moment. The final verse repeats the earlier themes of standing on the precipice and waiting for everything to fall apart. However, the repetition of the line “it's now” drives home the message that we need to act in the present and seize the day, even if the outcome is uncertain.
