My House
Nelson Lyrics

That's where my house lives
Sometimes I stayed there at night
But mostly I was on the move
Business first you know
And she'd wait there in her lonely room
But oh that's been so long ago
She's gone now
And now it waits there
This house that used to be my home
I never go there cause it holds
Too many memories since she's gone
But right there is where
My house lives all alone
She's gone now...
The lyrics of Nelson's song "My House" are reflective and introspective, speaking about a lost love and a home that holds too many memories. The singer describes the location of his old house, which he occasionally stayed in but spent most of his time away due to business. He reveals that his former partner was left alone in that house, emphasizing her loneliness by repeating the line "lonely room." The singer acknowledges that it has been a long time since he was last there, and his partner has since left. He admits that he cannot bring himself to return to the house because it holds too many memories of their time together. The last line, "She's gone now," punctuates the singer's sense of loss and distance from a place he used to call home.
Nelson's "My House" is a song about loss and the pain of memories. The lyrics convey a sense of longing while also highlighting the significant emotional toll of separation. The use of repetition throughout the song, notably the line "lonely room," serves to emphasize the singer's loneliness and pain. Despite its simplicity, the song's message is powerful and resonant, as many people can relate to the experiences of lost love and shattered memories.
