They are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family to reach number one record status in three successive generations (beginning with grandparents Ozzie and Harriet Nelson).
The band split with Geffen Records record label after 1995, but they have continued to produce and release albums independently under their label, Stone Canyon Records. However, they have yet to revisit the level of success they experienced during their 1990 debut. http://thenelsonbrothers.com

The Great Escape
Nelson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Guess he`s turned his back on me (once again)
The wicked walls of this dead-end town are closing in and I can`t breathe
(Sail away) Down the river of shattered dreams;
My destiny`s disguised (but I will find it)
Empty promises flow my way, adrift in shame; do you feel the same?
[Chorus]
Somehow, we`ll find a way to get out of here
Oh, why don`t we make the great escape and set our sites on higher ground?
We`re taking the ride all the way to the other side
(Step inside) See the man with the cracked guitar
Selling tales of sonic gray (the skies are falling)
No one gathers to sympathize or pay tribute to his fading flame
Tattoo girl on a butterfly
Sowing seeds of boundless hope (and devotion)
Follow me through a leap of faith; I know the way, I heard her say
[Chorus]
I know why you cry
Just let go; it`s easy if you try
Another time, another place we won`t be prisoners of fate
Somehow, we`ll find a way to get out of here
Oh, why don`t we make the great escape and set our sites on higher ground?
We`re taking the ride all the way to the other side. Whoa, yeah!
We`ve got to make the great escape and leave behind what can`t be saved
We`re taking the ride all the way to the other side
Don`t look back, don`t look back...
Come on, come on, come on and take my hand.
Whoa! Sail away!
Do you feel the same like I do?
Don`t look back
The Great Escape by Nelson is a song that reflects the theme of hope and liberation. It speaks of how the singer is feeling trapped and suffocated in their mundane existence, and how they are yearning for a chance to break free and start anew. The opening lines of the song, "There's no man on the moon tonight, guess he's turned his back on me," articulate a sense of isolation and abandonment. The singer feels that he is alone in his struggles, and even the moon, which is supposed to be a source of comfort and inspiration, has deserted him. The bleakness of his situation is further highlighted by the fact that he cannot breathe due to the walls of his town closing in around him.
The chorus is a cathartic release from these feelings of oppression. It represents the singer's desire to escape from his current situation, to break free from the chains that are holding him back, and to find a better life. The lyrics, "Somehow, we'll find a way to get out of here, oh why don't we make the great escape and set our sights on higher ground," are a call to action. The singer is urging the listener to join him on this journey towards freedom and self-discovery. He wants them to take a leap of faith and trust that there is a better life waiting for them on the other side.
Overall, The Great Escape is a song that speaks to the human desire for liberation and hope. It is a reminder that no matter how difficult our circumstances may be, there is always a chance to break free and start anew.

A GRANDE FUGA
(Navegue para longe) descendo o rio de sonhos despedaçados;
Venha, venha, venha e pegue minha mão.
Whoa! velejando!
Você sente o mesmo que eu?
Não olhe para trás
