They are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family to reach number one record status in three successive generations (beginning with grandparents Ozzie and Harriet Nelson).
The band split with Geffen Records record label after 1995, but they have continued to produce and release albums independently under their label, Stone Canyon Records. However, they have yet to revisit the level of success they experienced during their 1990 debut. http://thenelsonbrothers.com

The Silence Is Broken
Nelson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It wasn't all we thought it'd be
A fortune made - when we betrayed
The faith we'd placed in our blind belief
We were once close as blood
Yeah...
Locked inside - pride's prison cells
Well, the seasons changed - but the chill remains
A karmic debt keeps us Siamese twins
Until it's said, nothings done
The silence is broken
And that we have spoken
Don't turn away
I know we can change
A quickening - a bitter end
Come what may, something must be said
This reckoning - should be deafening
Instead of pregnant tranquility
The rebirth has begun
Emancipation lives and breathes
In the words one should but never speaks
Communication can end this speculation
And if we fall then at least we'll go down screaming!
Broken! the silence is broken!
'Til it's said, nothings done! the silence is broken!
The lyrics of Nelson's song The Silence Is Broken focus on the theme of communication and the consequences of failing to communicate. The opening lines expose the flawed promises and dreams that the singer had once believed in. The dream they had painted was nothing more than a smokescreen, and they had betrayed their own faith. The singer seems to blame pride for their current situation, as they are locked in their individual prison cells, suffering for their actions. The karmic debt they share keeps them bound together like Siamese twins.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the importance of breaking the silence between them. The singer believes that change is possible if they can communicate openly and honestly with each other. The lyrics suggest that the silence between them has been the cause of their suffering, and it's time to break it. The second verse talks about the impending bitter ending that awaits if something is not said. The singer believes that the silence should be broken with a deafening reckoning that should shake things up instead of the pregnant tranquility that has been maintained so far.
The final verse focuses on the consequence of communicating the truth. The singer believes that communication can end speculation, and they must not be afraid to fall. If they have to go down, they will go down screaming. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence between them.
