Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra Lyrics

Travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
It winds from Chicago to LA,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
Now you go through Saint Looey
Joplin, Missouri,
And Oklahoma City is mighty pretty.
You see Amarillo,
Gallup, New Mexico,
Flagstaff, Arizona.
Don't forget Winona,
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino.
Won't you get hip to this timely tip:
When you make that California trip
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

When you make that California trip
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

I am crying as I write this. George Maharis ( "Buzz" who co- starred with Martin Milner ) just passed away May 24, 2023, at the age of 94. I hope he's " found himself " perhaps continuing to find adventure traveling around in heaven in a Corvette --
RIP " Buzz ". Will always love you.

@@Alan-71351 Wow, me too at ten years old. I've always loved this TV program and the Nelson Riddle orchestra playing the theme. I have a CD of it and always play it when I'm on a road trip somewhere. This TV program did more to popularize the American dream car the Chevy Corvette, more than any GM ads could have. I've always loved the Corvette and have had several of them. My current one is a '64 Stingray coupe, 365HP, 327, 4-spd.

@@highlanderNC-mr8fe I lived in Ft. Lauderdale FL through all of the 60s and 70s. The beach scene along A1A from the Yankee Clipper hotel north past Las Olas Blvd was a great place to cruise, to check out the cars and the girls. Except for the Vietnam war, it was a great time to be alive - great cars, great music, and great friends.

That walking bass line with the jazzy piano counterpoint--then the booming brass section--absolutely friggin BOSS!!
@dsparkman6315
Pay attention to that bass line. It is rather unique and innovative.
