Hear Me
Nemesea Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Resign, recline
Descending into quicksand
Disguise, closed eyes
Carry on as it's falling away from you

Locked up, inside
Don't let them steal it from you
You hide your pride
Hold back, keep breaking and breaking yourself

Hear me, don't you understand?
Hear me, don't you understand?

No fight, hands tied
Control, it's your domain
You'll try this lie
Carry on as it's falling away from you

Rely and thrive
On that what keeps you floating
Deny your light
Hold back, keep breaking and breaking yourself

Hear me, don't you understand?
Hear me, don't you understand?

Hello, hello, hello, hello, hey you
Hello is it you?
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hey you
Hello is this you?

Hello, hello, hello, hello, hey you
Am i getting through?
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hey you
I've got a message for you, you, you

Running running running running around
Falling falling down
Fade in, fade out, got lost without a sound
Is this the way it should be?

Hear me, why don't you understand

And take my hand?
Hear me, why don't you understand?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Nemesea's song "Hear me" portrays the message of holding on to one's beliefs and identity amidst difficult circumstances. The first verse talks about the feeling of giving up, giving into the pressure and losing oneself. "Resign, recline" indicates the sense of surrender, and "Descending into quicksand" refers to the feeling of being pulled down by forces beyond one's control. "Disguise, closed eyes" talks about hiding one's identity to avoid harm, and "Carry on as it's falling away from you" depicts the idea of persevering despite the challenges.

The second verse talks about the internal struggle of holding on to one's values and not letting anyone take them away. "Locked up, inside" refers to feeling trapped and not being able to express oneself. "Don't let them steal it from you" emphasizes the importance of preserving one's values and beliefs, even in the face of adversity. "You hide your pride, Hold back, keep breaking and breaking yourself" talks about suppressing one's emotions and causing harm to oneself.

The chorus "Hear me, don't you understand?" is a plea for someone to listen and acknowledge the pain and struggle. The line "No fight, hands tied" shows the feeling of helplessness and having no control over the situation. "Control, it's your domain" contrasts this notion and emphasizes the importance of taking control of one's life. "Rely and thrive, On that what keeps you floating, Deny your light, hold back, keep breaking, and breaking yourself" refers to the idea of relying on one's strength and not letting others dim their light.

Overall, the song is about holding on to one's values, identity and not compromising despite the overwhelming pressure to do so.

Huh... I like the video. Teases us with the recognition she’s as beautiful as her voice, but never feeds that particular beast. And she certainly doesn’t look beautiful in the face paint, which may also be the point.

Compelling and revolting all at once. Very much the point, I think.

Art is supposed to make you feel. Not all those feelings are good.

“Why don’t you understand?”

What don’t we understand? The video, for starters.

This song is amazing! I was very disappointed when I discovered Manda had left the band, and only now I found out there's a new singer with an amazing voice, awesome!

@bittersweetev679

Am I the only one loves everything about this?:D the singer, the music and the video as well. Amazing band!

@protossevolution

Just discovered that there's 2 versions of the song, one with the original singer Manda, and this one with the new singer Sanne. I miss Manda presence in the band, but Sanne voice here is much better: Manda sounds very nasal in her version, Sanne voice sounds much more powerful. The video is a little strange/creepy at first sight, but it had grown on me and now I'm really addicted, it go along with the song very well, oddly fitting.

@MetalMaven

Wonderful song!! Sanne's voice feels right at home here!

@SymphonicmetalTV
