2) Nemesis is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in 1999 by a group of school friends. After a few changes in the line-up during the initial years, the band started to gain ground within Dhaka's local music scene with their fluent performances, as it settled on to a permanent line-up with Zohad on vocals, Maher and Nondito on guitars, Ratul on bass and Yawar on drums. This earned them a spot in a 'mixed album' compilation tagged 'Agontuk-2' in 2003. Debuting with their first single 'Obocheton', Nemesis became an instant favorite among Dhaka's listeners which, in turn, led to a record deal with G-Series.
During the recording of the album, their drummer Yawar had to leave and was replaced by Dio who worked on the rest of the album and their guitarist Nondito left soon after to be replaced by Omayr in 2005. Nemesis’ debut album ‘Onneshon’ was finally released in 2005 under the label of G-Series, and it went on to become one of the major albums of that year. The album instantly stood out and generated a lot of attention with several of the songs proving to be major hits with the audience. With the release of 'Dhushor Bhabona' (2006) and 'Joyoddhoni' (2007), Nemesis earned mainstream recognition as both the singles went on to be included in the capital’s most popular FM station Radio Foorti’s Top 100 Singles Charts.
The band recorded their second album ‘Tritio Jatra’, six years later being released in 2011 under the label of Dead Line Music (DLM) sponsored by Cat’s Eye. The first single from the album ‘Kobe’ was released in Radio stations earlier in the 2011. In late 2011, they released the music video of their hit song ‘Kobe’ which was produced by Studio Bangi.
In 2012, Maher Khan and Omayr Khan left Nemesis and were later in the same year replaced by Zerif Ahmed and Zeheen Ahmed. In early 2013, Zeheen took a break from the band and was replaced by Zafir which is the present permanent line up of the band.
‘Tritio Jatra’ got nominated for The Best Band Award of 2011 (Popular Choice and Critic), The Best Sounding Album Award and Best Music Video Award (‘Kobe’, Studio Bangi) for the Citycell Channel I Music Awards where Nemesis won The Critic’s Choice - Best Band Award.
There lineup took one final change as Zerif left the band and Rafsan joined the band. The band released their third and most recent album on 10th May ,2017 after 6 years. The album received positive review from all the fans. With this album they settled with their sound that is now they are more blues rock than alternative and all the band members were happy with the album. The ten songs on the album mark a departure from their older songs in the way that all the songs have a particular and serious meaning behind them. The album can be streamed in iTunes and Spotify.

Pride and Purity
Nemesis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They say that we are evil and they want to see us swing.
But I know in my heart, that what I do ain't wrong.
Because we see what others don't, that's why I write these songs
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity".
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Our race is being destroyed, by the puppets of the few.
Through the TV and the papers they try to forge your views.
They tell you that we're thick and all we do is hate.
But we shall see if they change their tune,
When they're standing at the traitors gate
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity".
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity"
They want to see us banned, because we love our race.
But the traitors of my people won't meet us face to face.
Cause when I look into their eyes, I can see no guilt.
But we shall see who's laughing last when their blood begins to spill
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity".
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity".
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity".
One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me.
Cause we got something that they do not, "pride and purity"
The lyrics to Nemesis's song Pride and Purity appear to be a call to arms for a white supremacist movement that is feeling threatened by those in power. The first stanza mentions the condemnation of pride by those who "pull the strings" and the desire to see them "swing". This seems to imply a desire for violent retribution against those who oppose the movement. However, the singer believes that what they are doing is not wrong because they see what others do not and that's why they write these songs. This could be seen as a justification for their beliefs and actions.
The next stanza mentions that the singer's race is being destroyed by "the puppets of the few" who control media and try to "forge your views". This seems to suggest a belief in a conspiracy to wipe out white people or at the very least, suppress their voice. They are being depicted as victims of a larger, more powerful force that is determined to silence them. The final stanza suggests that the white supremacist movement is feeling emboldened and is willing to spill blood to protect its interests.
Overall, the lyrics to Pride and Purity are disturbing and promote hatred and violence. It is a rallying cry for a movement that is willing to go to extreme measures to protect what it sees as its racial purity. It is unfortunate that such a message would resonate with anyone, and it is a reminder of how far we still have to go as a society to overcome the evils of racism.
