So you say you've tried but just can't find the measure
People around you are giving you pressure
Try to resist, all the bad things all around you
If you taste them, they will haunt you
So come, take me by the hand, we'll leave this troubled land
I know we can, I know we can, I know we can, I know we can
What ya, what ya, what ya, what ya know?
Watch all the stars, they lead in the right direction
Not to heed them is a bad reflection
They'll show you the way to what you have been seeking
To ignore them you're only cheating
So come, take me by the hand, we'll leave this troubled land
Why don't you get away? Get away
Lay awake at night till the sun comes up in the morning
Never excited; it all seems boring
Make up your mind which way to go about it
Choose your road, just don't doubt it
So come, take me by the hand, we'll leave this troubled land
I know we can. I know we can, I know we can, I know we can
Ah. Get away, let's leave today, let's get away!
Let's leave today, let's get away
The lyrics of Nettai Tropical Jazz Big Band's "Getaway" are about leaving behind the negativity and pressures of life in order to find a better path. The singer encourages the listener to take their hand and escape from the troubled land they are currently living in. The first verse encourages the listener to resist the temptations and bad things that surround them, warning that if they give in, they will be haunted. The singer believes that leaving the negative influences behind will allow the listener to find a better way of life.
The second verse instructs the listener to pay attention to the stars, which will guide them in the right direction. Ignoring the stars is seen as a negative reflection on the listener. The singer believes that the stars will lead the listener to what they have been seeking all along, and that ignoring them is cheating. The third verse encourages the listener to make a decision and choose a path in life without doubting themselves.
The chorus continues to reinforce the message of leaving behind the negative influences of life and escaping to a better place. The repetition of the phrase "I know we can" creates a sense of determination and positivity, urging the listener to take action.
Overall, "Getaway" is a song about taking control of one's life and leaving behind the negativity and pressures that can bring us down. It encourages the listener to be bold and take a chance on a new path, with the promise of a brighter future.
