3 Years
Neve Lyrics

I always felt this close far away
We would ask the questions that lead to no reply
With 3 minutes more what would I say?
CHORUS:
Go
I know
Don't waste the last 3 years
She whispered on about those empty times
Yeah I would fill them if I could
She would dream right before me
And hold me up so high
I need to find a way to go back into time
I'm always running out of space
Yet always looking in your face
There's nothing left that you or I could choose
It goes on and on
REPEAT CHORUS
And I would walk away with someone else
Like I don't know you
'Cause in such different ways
We'll save these last 3 years
Go
I know
Come home
We'll save these last 3 years
The song "3 Years" by Neve is a poignant and emotional tale of a relationship that has been fraught with distance and miscommunication. The lyrics describe a narrator who has been by their partner's side for all that time, but has always felt "close far away." Despite their best efforts to communicate, they find that their conversations lead to no real answers or solutions. The song's chorus is a plea to make the most of the time they have left together, encouraging the listener to "come home" and not "waste the last 3 years."
The second verse of the song gives us a glimpse into the singer's partner's perspective, describing how they "whispered on about those empty times" and how the singer would do anything to fill those empty spaces. Even in their dreams, their partner holds them high and supports them. However, the singer is aware that they need to find a way to go back in time and salvage what's left of their relationship.
The final lines of the song speak to a sense of conflict within the singer. They admit that they're "always running out of space" but are still "always looking in your face," implying a sense of uncertainty and confusion. However, they are still committed to making the most of their remaining time together, even if that means walking away with someone else.
Overall, Neve's "3 Years" is a powerful and moving song about two people struggling to bridge the gap between them and make their relationship work, even in the face of uncertainty and distance.
