I Put A Spell On You
New Kids In Town Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I put a spell on you
And now you′re mine
You can't stop the things I do
I ain′t lyin'

It's been three hundred years
Right down to the day
Now the witch is back
And there′s hell to pay

I put a spell on you
And now you′re mine!

Hello, Salem!
My name's Winifred!
What′s yours?

I put a spell on you
And now you're gone
(Gone gone gone, so long!)
My whammy fell on you
And it was strong
(So strong, so strong, so strong!)

Your wretched little lives
Have all been cursed
′Cause of all the witches working
I'm the worst

I put a spell on you
And now you′re mine

(Watch out! Watch out! Watch out! Watch out!)

If you don't believe
You better get superstitious
Ask my sisters
"Ooh, she's vicious!"

I put a spell on you...
I put a spell on you...
Sisters!

Ah say ento pi alpha mabi upendi
Ah say ento pi alpha mabi upendi
In comma coriyama
In comma coriyama

Hey, hey, high, high

Say bye-bye!
Bye bye!

Overall Meaning

The song "I Put a Spell on You" by the New Kids in Town is a dark and mysterious tune that explores the concept of a witch who has cast a spell on someone to make them hers. The lyrics describe the witch's confidence and power, stating that the person she has put the spell on cannot stop the things she does. She has been gone for three hundred years, but now she has returned, and there is hell to pay. The chorus repeats the title of the song, emphasizing how the witch has complete control over the person she has enchanted.

The second verse introduces the witch to the town of Salem, where she proudly announces her name as Winifred. She then states that her spell has been successful, and the person she put it on is now gone, and her "whammy" was strong. The third verse explains that the witch has cursed all of the town's lives, and the other witches pale in comparison to her. The chorus then again repeats that the person is now hers and to watch out.

The bridge features the witch speaking in a strange language, giving the song an extra eerie feel. The song then ends with the chorus repeating, and the witch and her sisters saying goodbye.

And then she sings byeeeeee 👋

Alot whitches have these dumb little spells those are the fake ones that like the pagans culture and use like potions and all that

but real witches (aks black magic)use candles and maybe herbs and potions idk but they......use latin to cast thier curses and spells. And the movie is based in Salem massachusets where the witchraft trials took place in the 1600s thier was a lot of black magic going on in those days.

This performance just proves that of all three Sanderson Sisters, Winnifred is the most the most dangerous. She's clearly the most adaptable and intelligent of the three. She took no time at all adjusting to the modern setting, and even capitalized on the children's attempt to warn everyone. Not only did she successfully cast a spell on all of them: she manipulated them into cursing themselves with open arms.

@ryderwhited6

Gotta at least give a little credit to her backup singers, they both caught on extremely quickly and had the awareness to play along, have remarkable memory like Winifred to know the lyrics after one listening, and cast the spell with her during the chant

@Helber_Gui

A música I put a spell on you já estava sendo cantada pelo esqueleto, Winnifred cantou a mesma canção logo após com o feitiço.

@Baffled_King

To be fair, though, saying she is the smartest of the sisters isn't setting the bar very high... 😅

@ByakuganWhite

@@Baffled_King it's pretty darn high for a Disney Channel Movie villain, though.

@Wynn Wynn and the eldest sister who take care of the two even before being a witch.

What is the witches' strongest ability? To be able to completely improve a song and dance number on the spot

@johnnycage112

They have the power of Disney!

@abbycollins

I wish I had that power.
