Turn It Up
New Monkees Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, the time is close to midnight
But the party's only just begun
Be sure and tell everybody you know
To come over and have some fun
Don't tell me I'm crazy
Don't tell me I'm wrong
Everybody's invited
So don't make me wait too long

(chorus)
Turn it up
Let the music thunder
And don't turn it down
Turn it up
Woah-oh-oh-oh
Turn it up

If you're feeling bored and lonely
Don't pay attention to the time
It don't matter if it's getting late
'Cause we're gonna stay awake all night
Don't tell me I'm crazy
Don't say it's too loud
'Cause we're just getting started

So come on and join the crowd

(chorus)

(chorus)

Awwww, c'mon, Larry, do it!

Don't tell me I'm crazy
Don't say it's too loud
'Cause the party ain't over
'Til we rock this whole place down

(chorus)

(chorus)

Turn it up
Turn it up

Turn it up
Turn it up

I'd forgotten what a great voice Dino had.

Great job Dino, I always thought this song rocked!

If the song was put into a movie, or another television show (like Billy Vera's-?- song on FAMILY TIES), I believe it would pick up after all these years.

I'm not too wild about the "video" they made, but I do so enjoy listening to this song! I try not to listen to my audio cassette too much, for fear of it getting eaten. Wish they'd rerelease their music on CD. AND NOT FOR the $40+ they're asking for the original release!

Adam Harris

@J Cavazos I now have the CD, and to quote The Dude, "Yeah, well.., that's just your opinion, man."

Fremont Lee. One mediocre 80s song in the whole album or cd. The rest is well,💩.

Ron Motta

The music was just as if not better than what was played on Top 40 radio at the time. They absolutely picked the right guys.
