If you're eighteen and over, come here
I got something for your mind

(Come) you should do that, baby, no more will you cry
(Come) spirit's calling, here's a reason why, darling
(Come) if you had a chance to see the future would you try?
(Come) if you will, so will I
(Come) when I call you up, I want to tell you what to wear
(Come) don't be surprised if I tell you to go bare
(Come) long as you wash between your soul and through your hair (I'm gonna do it)
(Come) I'll do my duty there, oh

(Come) you should do that, baby, no more will you cry
(Come) the spirit's calling, here's a reason why, darling
If you had a chance (come) to see the future would you try?
(If you had a chance to see the future would you try?)
(Come) if you will, so will I (if you will, so will I)

(Come) (when you) when I lay you down I'm gonna tell you what to feel
(Come) (don't you) don't be surprised if I make you my daily meal
(Lickin' you inside) (come) lickin' you inside, outside
(Outside) all sides (all sides), up and down (up and down)
(Come) with my tongue in the crease, baby, I go 'round
When I go down, down, down, (come) down, down, down, da-da-down

(When I do, no more) no more will you cry
(Come) spirit's calling, here's a reason why
(Come) if you had a chance to see the future would you try?
(Come) if you will, so will I (if you will, so will I)
So will I

(Come), you should do that, baby
You should do that, girl, ooh
(Come)
Ooh
(Come)
You should do that, baby
(Come)
(Come)
You should do that, girl

(Come) when I suck you there
I don't want to hear you scream (don't want to hear you scream)
(Come) don't talk or breathe, don't cough or sneeze (achoo)
Oh, just dream, dream, dream
Baby, uh, my tongue's gonna do things that you never seen (seen)
Oh, oh, yeah

(Come) (when I) when I blow that mind, baby
(Come) I'm gonna drive you crazy

(Come) you should do that, girl, no more will you cry
(Come) you should do that, baby, here's a reason why
(Come) if you had the chance to see the future would you try?
(Do that girl, do that girl)
Oh-oh, oh
(Come) you should do that baby, yeah (if you will, so will I
(Come on) ooh (come on) woo (come on) yeah
(No more will you cry)
(Come) here's a reason why
(Come) if you had the chance to see the future would you try?
(Come) if you will so will I
Now break it down

(Come)
Ooh
(Come) when I blow that mind, baby
(Come) I'm gonna drive you crazy

(Come) can I suck you, baby?
(Come) can I fuck you, baby?
(Come) I want to suck you, baby
(Come) ooh-ooh

Shout it (come) out, out, out
No more will you cry
(Come)
Here's a reason why
(Come) and if you had a chance to see the future would you try?
Oh, (come)
If you will, (so will I) if you will, so will I (so will I)

Like a splendid (come), open ended
Celibate friend (no more will you cry), pretending
Not to know it (come) (know it) when I blow it (blow it)
In your eyes (here's a reason why)
Like a strawberry (come), chocolate
Fender jazz, mashed potato, fuzztone (come)
All over your thighs

Oh baby
That's the only (come) come I know
When I'm deep inside that
Yeah, that's the only time (come)
The only time you go
"Ooh, baby you're so good"
"Ooh, baby you're so good"
Aw, shut up (come)
This is just so you come

Come
Come

No more will you cry

It's no wonder there's a puddle there
Holding it in for so long
You know you can let it go
It won't be wrong
(Come) it's just you and me, baby
Tonight and forevermore
(Come) you should do that, baby
Fuck it on the floor (come)
Or better yet, we'll just do it on the chair?
(Come) you should get that shit started
You can change your underwear
(Come) yeah, you can always change your underwear
(Come) it don't mean your rep 'cause you kiss in a restaurant
(Come) it don't mean your rep just 'cause me tallywhacker suckin' is all you want
(Come) all it means it that the one that come before me never made you come
(Come) you should do that, baby
(Come) should do that, baby
(Come) come
Do that, baby, do that, baby
Come
Let me suck you

(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
Don't scream
Don't talk (come)
Don't breathe
(Come)
Just lay back
Just lay back
(Come)
Just lay back and dream
Dream (come)
Dream
Dream (come)

(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come)
(Come) oh yeah, oh, oh, oh yeah
(Come)
Oh love
(Come)
Did you come, come, come, come?
(Come)
I want to know
(Come) oh yeah
(Come) yeah

(You should do that, baby) you should do that, baby
(Come) oh yes, oh yes, oh yes
(Come) come
You should do that, baby
(Do that girl)
(Come)
(Oh yeah)
Oh (woo) (come)

No more, no more (no more will you cry)
Will you cry, cry, cry, cry (here's a reason why)
If you had the chance (come)
If you had the chance to see the future would you try?
(Come) if you will, if you will, so will I
(If you will, so will I)
Come, come, come
(Baby, oh, oh, oh, oh)
(Come)
(Come) when I blow that mind, baby
(Come) I'm gonna drive you crazy
Come

You should do that, baby
Come

Overall Meaning

The song "Come On" is a sensual and seductive tune that encourages the listener to let go of their inhibitions and give in to their desires. The lyrics use various sexual innuendos and metaphors to paint a picture of the singer's willingness to please their partner. The opening lines invite those who are "eighteen and over" to come to him, promising to give them "something for their mind." The song continues with the singer commanding his partner to do things such as coming when he calls, washing his/her soul and hair, and not talking or breathing while engaged in sexual activities. He assures them not to cry anymore and to let their spirits guide them.

The lyrics are both playful and suggestive, and the song has undoubtedly become a classic of Prince's catalog. The track shows how Prince's music was not only focused on musical excellence, but also on exploring sensual and sometimes taboo subjects. The song's beat and melody are groovy and funky, making it perfect for a dance party or a romantic night in. The song's message of living in the moment and letting go of one's fears to explore passions is a theme that was common in much of Prince's music.

I wonder if these lyrics were about Vanity and her marriage to Anthony Smith, a tall, dark-skinned, younger man.

I know you got a young man
You don't care about me
He's darker than quicksand
He's taller than a tree
What you need is some real lovin'
Instead of these young-ass fools
I got the butter 4 your muffin
Just need the keys 2 the room

@darkknightsds Looking back at my comment, I realize you're absolutely right. That wasn't very kind of me and I offer my sincere apology.

darkknightsds

Just because someone doesn't know this doesn't mean they aren't a Prince fan. This is an obscure track from one of Prince's worst periods, where his music was notoriously hard to get a hold of. Drop your elitist act. Prince would be ashamed.

sperrotta91

Just wish he'd taken his time with it. Still sounds so rough... Prince's former engineer Hans-Martin Buff is right when he says Newpower Soul was a rushed project.
