The Rollies, misalnya A. Riyanto, Titiek Puspa, Johannes Purba, Antonius.
Mulut Besar
New Rollies Lyrics

Tetapi manakah semua buktinya
Engkau tutupi yang sebenarnya
Tapi kami tahu kau bersandiwara
Omong kosongmu
Tiada pernah ada artinya
Mulut besarmuSemua itu kosong belaka
Menasihati orang yang lain
Kau tiada tandingnya sangatlah hebatnya
Kau menyalahkan orang yang lain
Engkau tiada tandingnya sangatlah pandainya
Ambil cirimu
Perhatikan diri sendiri
Menang dirimu
Jangan mau menang sendiri
The lyrics of New Rollies's "Mulut Besar" present a strong critique of individuals who talk a great deal but fail to provide any substantive proof or action backing their words. The opening lines highlight a disconnect between what someone claims to be capable of and the reality of their actions. The repeated emphasis on speaking skill suggests that the person in question is adept at creating a façade of intelligence or competence through their rhetoric. However, there’s an underlying accusation that this is mere "sandiwara," or performance. The singer and others are aware of the truth beneath the surface-level chatter, hinting at a broader commentary on authenticity and integrity in interpersonal communication.
Moving deeper into the lyrics, the song continues to dismantle the notion that empty words hold any real significance. The phrase "Omong kosongmu" conveys the sentiment that the singer's talk is empty and devoid of substance. This ties back to the earlier assertion that the singer's vocal prowess does not translate into genuine meaning or value. The repetition of "mulut besarmu" emphasizes the idea of someone who speaks loudly but whose contributions are ultimately hollow. This juxtaposition between grandstanding and meaningful discourse highlights a societal tendency to elevate those who can articulate well but may not have the necessary follow-through or depth in character, thus exposing a cultural critique on superficiality in communication.
The subsequent verses shift the focus to the hypocrisy often found in those who offer unsolicited advice or judgment to others. This section underscores the irony that such individuals possess a seemingly expert ability to observe and critique the shortcomings of others while failing to recognize their own flaws. Their advice, despite its apparent soundness, loses credibility because it is delivered from a place of self-righteousness. The repeated assertion that “Kau tiada tandingnya” suggests a sarcastic admiration for their capacity to lecture, further emphasizing their skill in avoiding self-reflection. This resentment towards those who play the role of moral authority is palpable, questioning the validity of their insights when they choose to remain blind to their imperfections.
Lastly, the closing lines serve as a call for introspection and self-awareness. The directive to "Ambil cirimu" and "Perhatikan diri sendiri" invites the listener—both the subject of the song and those who resonate with its message—to look inward and critically evaluate their own behaviors and motivations. This move towards self-examination is a stark contrast to the earlier criticism of those who speak without understanding or accountability. By stressing the importance of self-awareness, the song advocates for a more genuine approach to communication, highlighting the need for individuals to engage in honest self-assessment rather than projecting an image of infallibility. Ultimately, the message encourages a collective move away from empty rhetoric towards a deeper, more meaningful interaction with oneself and others.
