When Stephens received several requests for The New Vaudeville Band to tour he had to put together a group, since the song was recorded by studio musicians hired only for the recording session. He contacted a real group, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, which played similar music at the time. Only Bob Kerr from that group was interested, so he left The Bonzos to help Stephens form a touring version of The New Vaudeville Band. The lead singer of the touring version of the group was Alan Klein, who was billed as 'Tristram—Seventh Earl Of Cricklewood'. The group enjoyed success for two years until the novelty wore off. Kerr then formed his own group, Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band, which continues to perform.
In 1967, The New Vaudeville Band released the Finchley Central LP.
So Tired
New Vaudeville Band Lyrics

So tired of longing for you
Tired of waiting
Saving my love for you
So tired of dreaming daydreams
So tired of only play schemes
Why don't you call me
Tell me that your thoughts are all of me sweetheart
All day long I wonder why we're far apart
So tired of dreaming of you
So tired of waiting for you
But though I'm tired
I'll wait forever dear.
(Orchestral Interlude)
So tired of dreaming of you
So tired of waiting for you
But though I'm tired
I'll wait forever dear.
The New Vaudeville Band's song "So Tired" is a love song about a narrator who is weary of waiting for their love interest to reciprocate their feelings. The first two lines of the song express the singer's frustration with being constantly in a state of longing and waiting for the person they love to notice them. The repetition of the phrase "tired of waiting" underscores this point.
The singer goes on to express their exhaustion with dreaming and scheming for this person's affection. They plead with their love interest to call them and declare their feelings, to let them know that they are at least on their mind. The chorus repeats the phrase "so tired of dreaming of you" to emphasize the singer's preoccupation with this person and their emotional fatigue.
In the second verse, the singer wonders why they are kept apart from their love interest and longs for them to acknowledge the strength of their connection. The final line of the song expresses the singer's undying devotion, despite their exhaustion and frustration. The orchestral interlude that breaks up the second and third verses heightens the emotional intensity of the song, underscoring the singer's feelings of longing and disappointment.
