In 1998, Nicholas Jensen Stilborg, established The Planet Art Studios in Cape Town where he honed his experience as musician and tunesmith for over a decade. In bands, Nicholas played live gigs at various popular national venues, yet it is his solo studio work, in particular, that unleashed his latent talents, putting NJS (Nicholas’s brand name) onto the music industry’s map. NJS’s songs are themed on life’s expectations and associated frustrations, expressed in raw emotion via his gritty vocals and arresting instrumentals. In his songs, NJS seeks to project truth and emotion, in a studio mix of top quality. NJS is known for producing the cleanest studio sounds, yet is quick to add that “Mixing is like putting your soul on a plate, and though there’s a place for enhancement technology, it should not be enhancement for enhancement’s sake.” That’s the message of Nicholas Jensen Stilborg: expressing what rocks the emotions – as authentically as possible. With his remarkable vocal talent and stage presence, NJS is ready to go live again. NJS is currently rehearsing with the intention of exposing fans to their live sound throughout the country, from 2011.

Nicholas Jensen Stilborg Lyrics

It comes down
To your emptiness
You've been told
What you're craving
You can't take
Anymore
What I owe you
I owe you nothing
I gave you everything
And you're taking
I don't know you
You changed for something
You lost your will to live
Are you regretting
I couldn't ever hold my lip
You know why
With my subtleness
You've been told
What you're craving
You can't take
Anymore
What I owe you
I owe you nothing
I gave you everything
And you're taking
I don't know you
You changed for something
You lost your will to live
Are you regretting
And all those things that I came for
And all those things that I worked for
And all those things that I gave for
And all those things that I loved for
Is this all that I worked for
A couple of songs on the dance floor
I don't care if you don't like it
I wrote these songs the money's in my pocket
La da dee dam daai
La da dee dam daai
La da dee dam daai
La da dee dam daai
Is this all that I worked for
A couple of songs on the dance floor
I don't care if you don't like it
The lyrics to Nicholas Jensen Stilborg's song, May, seem to address a relationship that has gone awry due to the emptiness of one partner. The singer mentions that they gave everything they could, but the other person is taking more than they can handle. The lines, "What you're craving, you can't take anymore," highlight the idea that the other person may be looking for something that they can never attain. The repetition of the lines, "I owe you nothing," emphasizes the singer's feeling that they no longer owe the other person anything.
The next section of the song features lines that question the worth of what the singer has accomplished. They mention that they worked for and loved certain things but seem to be disappointed with the resulting outcome. The switch to "la da dee dam daai" seems to represent the singer's frustration and perhaps their attempt to drown out their thoughts. The repeated lines about not caring if the listener likes the songs on the dance floor could be interpreted as the singer's defiance in the face of disappointment.
Overall, this song delves into themes of a failed relationship and the disappointment that can come with striving towards something. The repetition of certain lines emphasizes the emotional weight behind the lyrics, while the use of repeated sounds and nonsense syllables helps underscore the singer's frustration and confusion.
