One day all who deny will finally believe
One day hearts made of stone will break in pieces
One day chains once unbroken will fall down at Your feet
So we wait for that one day, come quickly
We wanna see Your glory
Every knee falls down before Thee
Singing glory to You and unto You only
We'll sing glory to Your name
One day voices that lie will all be silenced
One day all that's divided will be whole again
One day death will retreat and wave it's white flag
One day love will defeat the strongest enemy
So we wait for that one day, come quickly
We wanna see Your glory
Every knee falls down before Thee
Every tongue offers You praise with every hand raised
Singing glory to You and unto You only
We'll sing glory to Your name
We know not today or the hour
Or the moments in between
But we know the end of the story
When we'll see
Your glory
Every knee falls down before Thee
Every tongue offers You praise with every hand raised
Singing glory to You and unto You only
We'll sing glory to Your name, oh one day
The song "Glory" by Nichole Nordeman is a hymn of anticipation for the coming of Christ and the ultimate victory of love over hate, light over darkness, and life over death. The lyrics are filled with hope and joy that one day, all that is broken and imperfect in this world will be made whole, redeemed, and restored to its original purpose - to glorify God. The song vividly captures the longing of human hearts for a better tomorrow, a day when all tears will be wiped away, all pain will be healed, and all things will be made new.
The first verse of the song speaks of physical and emotional healing, when those who cannot see will see, those who cannot believe will believe, hearts that have been hardened will become soft, and people who have been oppressed will be set free. All of these are things that only God can do, which is why the song expresses a deep sense of expectancy for God's intervention. The second verse focuses on spiritual healing, where voices that lie will be silenced, and division will be replaced by unity. The song beautifully captures the idea that the gospel is the ultimate answer to all of the world's problems, and the only way to true peace and reconciliation.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the central theme of the song, which is the glory of God. The songwriters use powerful imagery to convey the idea that every person, every knee, and every tongue will bow down and praise God when they see His glory. The repetition of the phrase "singing glory to You and unto You only" is a reminder that God alone deserves our worship and adoration. The bridge of the song speaks of not knowing the day or the hour when Christ will return but trusting that the end of the story is assured. The songwriters end with the idea that one day, we will see God's glory, and it will be a day of great triumph and celebration.
