Begin Again
Nick Mulvey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mary was my mother's mother and my sister too
There's rain in the river, there's a river running through
To the sea around these islands crying tears of sorrow and pain
There's rain in the river, there's a river in my veins

Mary, young as we may be you know
The blood in you and me is as old as blood can be
Is as old as blood can be
As old as blood can be

Living lines of memory drew the markings on my hands
Ancient lines of living love are waking in this land
Saying, "I am in the forest, in the city and the field
I am in the bounty, come on, know me as I yield
I am in the Falcon, in the Otter and the Stoat
I am in the Turtle Dove with nowhere left to go"
I'm in the moment of blind madness when he's pushing her away
I am in the lover and in the ear who hears her say

"Can we begin again? Oh baby, it's me again
I know you are so different to me but I love you just the same
I love you just the same
I love you just the same
I love you just the same
I love you just the same
Love you just the same"

(Love you just the same)
(Love you just the same)

Mary Ethel Ruddock 1912 to '72
(I love you just the same)
Though we never met in flesh, yeah, I remember you
(I love you just the same)
Were warm and you were gentle, you were modest you were kind
(I love you just the same)
A mother, wife and gran, you were a woman of your time
(I love you just the same)

Mary, young as we may be you know
The blood in you and me is as old as blood can be (I love you just the same)
Is as old as blood can be (I love you just the same)
As old as blood can be

(I love you just the same) And she says
"I am in the living, I am in the dying too
(I love you just the same)
I am in the stillness, can you see me as I move?
(I love you just the same)
I am in the Hawthorn, in the Apple and the Beech
(I love you just the same)
I am in the mayhem and the medicine of speech"
(I love you just the same)
In the moment of blind madness when he's pushing her away
(I love you just the same)
I am in the lover and in the ear who hears her say

"Can we begin again? Oh baby, it's me again
I know you are so different to me but I love you just the same
I love you just the same
I love you just the same
I love you just the same

I love you just the same
I love you just the same

This song has touched and blessed me in the deepest way. Sincerely, thank you.

My grandmother was the closest person to me.... and I lost her last year, June 4th...I have been struggling with her passing... she was my best friend, my mother, my guide, protection and comfort. I never had a chance to say goodbye to her properly when she passed... My last contact with her was a video call...and I told her that I looked forward to her recovery and seeing her again....

She shaped me into who I am today, her light that shone through her....and I hope that her light will shine through me in the same way... she loved without judgement... selflessly...forgiving...and fiercely strong... a survivor...pillar of strength to all who surrounded her....

I will be forever grateful for the sacrifices she made for her family.

When she passed, I held my own private ceremony in the deep forest and in that moment was reminded of the lyrics of Xavier Rudd's song, Full Circle...
"As she's singing all these songs
Oh, she's singing to heal my soul.
Find my place, find my reason
Oh, I been here so long
Oh, she's singing with the trees
Oh, she's singing to heal me"

Even though we lose someone in flesh... they are always with us... always. We are all inter-connected. I know she is still with me.

This song is going to help me deal with her passing... thank you for blessing me. 😢💚 I am sure this song will bless many during these uncertain times...
This song gives us hope and positive outlook to life...to appreciate the lives of others...to realise our connection to one another....

May you continue to bless many people through your talents and wisdom for many years to come still. 💚

Gracias a la vida.

Beautiful song, it reminds me of my own grandmother who loved all her (grand)children unconditionally. When I came out as a lesbian 10 years ago she was so supportive. Although she was from an older (not very lgbt friendly) generation, she always made me feel loved. Three years ago she passed away and I miss her very much. But my heart is also filled with gratitude and I try to spread the love she once gave me. ❤️

Heal

May she rest in peace my friend🤍🌠Sending so much love right now, for you Liv Stevens 💞💛💚💜🧡

Aw bless you how proud she would be to have your love. You had all those years of unconditional love they will last a lifetime. Lost my mum 10 years but had her love for 40 years some don’t have any. We always want more but we have to be grateful. Take my love and strength but I don’t think you’ll need it😘🌻🦋🌈🇬🇧xxx
