Meet Me There
Nick Mulvey Lyrics

And after all the dealing, the hooking and reeling along from the start
Oh there's a field, meet me there
Out beyond rightness and wrong, meet me there
Woman you're leaving, loving, you're leading me on
Living I'm alive, sweet woman, keep loving me on
'Cause they wake up every morning with the cradle in their hands
But they pretend it's a game
Acting like the only place the truth could ever live was up on Shacklewell Lane
Oh there's a field, meet me there
Please come along, tie back your hair
I tried yesterday, it takes me so long to say, but I need you to know
Darling you show, by leaving me so, the only way to hold on is keep letting go
Oh there's a field, meet me there
You know I'm on my way, please meet me there
Oh there's a field, meet me there
Out beyond rightness and wrong, meet me there
I'm on my way, meet me there
Please come along, tie back your hair
After all the people picking people picking people apart, my love
The song "7" by Nick Mulvey talks about the challenges of love and relationships in the modern world. The opening lines suggest that people are constantly critical of others, and relationships are often undermined by society's expectations and standards. The singer then invites his lover to join him in a peaceful, idyllic place - a field - where they can escape from the pressures of the world.
As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges the complexities of relationships. His lover seems to be leading him on, but he is willing to follow her because he feels alive when he is with her. He also recognizes that people often pretend that love is just a game, and the truth of their feelings is hidden away. He invites his lover to meet him in the field where they can be honest with each other, away from the distractions of society.
The final lines of the song reveal the singer's vulnerability. He acknowledges that he tried to express his feelings to his lover before but found it difficult. He needs her to know that leaving him has hurt him, but he recognizes that sometimes the only way to hold on is to let go. Despite the challenges, the singer remains hopeful and asks his lover to meet him in the field, where they can start again.
Overall, "7" is a heartfelt and poignant song that captures the difficulties and joys of love in a world that often undermines it.

Listening to this tonight. On the verge of tears. Praying my hopes, dreams, and longing meets me there - where everything seems to be better. Thank you, Nick. You wrote a song about a nostalgia for something I’ve not experienced yet. ❤
