Figured You Out
Nickelback Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please, while you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say "No" too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose

Ouh, and now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed, while you put me to the test

I like the white stains on your dress
And I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck (The good times that you wreck)

And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

Ouh and I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why
Why not before, you never tried
Gone for good, and this is it

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please, while you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I hate the places that we go
And I hate the people that you know
And I hate the way you can't say "No" too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

Ouh and now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why
Why not before, you never tried

Gone for good, and this is it
Ooh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Nickelback's song Figured You Out are controversial and have been subject to much interpretation. On the surface, the song's lyrics appear to be about a man who is lusting after a woman's physical appearance and promiscuous behavior. He seems to be intrigued by her lack of self-respect and the fact that she's willing to do anything he asks, without saying no. However, there is a subtext to these lyrics that suggests the man does not respect or care for the woman he's describing. He describes her as his "favorite damn disease" and repeatedly mentions his hatred for her lifestyle and friends.

The chorus of the song, "And now I know who you are, It wasn't that hard, Just to figure you out," suggests that the woman is not worth his time or attention. The repetition of this verse throughout the song reinforces the idea that the man is indifferent to the woman's feelings and motivations.

Overall, the lyrics of Figured You Out are meant to challenge conventional ideas about romance, sex, and relationships. While the song may seem misogynistic on the surface, it is actually a critique of men who use women for their own pleasure without considering their feelings or desires. The song suggests that true love and respect cannot exist in a relationship that is based solely on physical attraction or manipulation.

I agree. These guys can turn up the amps and vibrate goat pee into gasoline.

I'm a longtime fan of them, and Theory, and Shinedown and Saving Able. [And I'm 57 and cut my teeth to AC/DC and Van Halen in 9th grade in 1980.

When I fire up my old 69 Charger, Nickelback is just as great to hear pumping outta the the Cerwin Vega's as Molly Hatchet or Bad Company.

Fierce Spirit is conveyed across many mediums. Just listen to 'Roar' from Katy Perry. There's something about good music that rises above genre'.

Music that makes you wanna move comes in all stripes. Listen to your heartbeat when something good is on the box.... it tries to carry you away.

Keep Rockin!!

Oh good God!!! So much I could say about that whole scenario just layed out there. Truck Driver rocking out to this particular song over and over. I hope that you're a good dude. I've seen way to many Investigation Discovery shows. The ID Channel. Forgive me though. I did not want to be insulting. Without you men and women traveling all over. Missing your family and friends in order to deliver the food or items people need all over the country. Thank you for that.
