Every now and then I get a little bit lonely
And you're never coming round
Turn around
Every now and then I get a little bit tired
Of listening to the sound of my tears
Turn around
Every now and then I get a little bit nervous
Turn around
Every now and then I get a little bit terrified
And then I see the look in your eyes
Turn around, bright eyes
Every now and the I fall apart
Turn around, bright eyes
Every now and the I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
'Cause we'll never be wrong together
Once upon a time I was falling in love
Now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Turn around
Every now and then I know you'll never be the boy
Who always wanted to be
Turn around
Every now and then I know you'll always be
The only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turn around
Every now and then I know there's no one in the universe
As magical and wondrous as you
Turn around
Every now and then I know there's nothing any better
There's nothing that I just wouldn't do
Turn around, bright eyes
Every now and then I fall apart
Turn around, bright eyes
Every now and then I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
'Cause we'll never be wrong
Together we can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Once upon a time I was falling in love
Now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time I was falling in love
Now I'm only falling apart
Nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
The lyrics of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Nicki French depict a person who is feeling lonely, tired, nervous, and terrified. The individual is longing for the presence of someone they love and trust to hold them, and make everything right. The song tells a story of a woman who feels lost and heartbroken. She sees the man she loves as the only one who can bring light to her life, and she is willing to go to great lengths to keep their relationship going.
The metaphors present in the lyrics serve as a great instrument in illustrating the woman's desolation. The reference to an eclipse signifies the darkness that has befallen her heart. The line "we're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks" paints a picture of the passion that these two individuals have for each other. However, the lyrics end with a sense of sadness and defeat as the woman realizes that the love she once had is gone, and she is left with nothing but shattered dreams.
Overall, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" presents a picture of profound sadness and lost love. The song is an excellent portrayal of the emotions that come with heartbreak and the desperation that follows.

I close my eyes and this song brings me back to spring/summer 95 my freshman year in high school. Even back then I preferred this version. Anyone remember single cassettes, I had this single cassette that slid in the card board holder ❤ 🌻 🙂

@@Joseph-lz5erUntil now I always thought the song came out around the turn of the decade to 2010 for some reason. I looked again and yep this is older than that!

I was born in 1980. This song was my childhood and now I'm 42 and still love her vocals and the passion she put into this song. I wish I could meet her one day but it will never happen. I bought her cassette single from coconuts back in the day. Wonderful passionate woman and song.
