Nickless’s Journey in music and his sudden success is almost a little extraordinary for todays standards. Without any previous social media hype, released cover songs or any association with a casting show, Nickless as a complete newcomer won “Best Hit” at the Swiss Music Awards for his first ever single “Waiting”. So what makes Nickless so unique?
One thing is clear, it didn’t happen over night. The young man behind the music knew from a very young age what he wanted to do. When he was as young as 7 years old Nickless learned to play the drums. Then at 8 years old he not only started learning the piano and the guitar together with a music coach, but he also started collecting his first live experiences playing in a band. When he was 12 years old he was the drummer playing for a teenie combo named Klirrfaktor and got a taste for success winning local talent competitions. Due to his journey it’s easy to draw comparisons to artists such as Dave Grohl, Phil Collins or Don Henley who all like Nickless transitioned from being a very talented drummer of a band to becoming the lead singer of their own project.
At the age of 15 he then knocked on the door of “571 Recording Studios” belonging to Thomas Fessler (77 Bombay Street, Lovebugs, Pluesch, Sina, Bastian Baker, Dada Ante Portas, Marc Sway and so forth) where, after he completed school, began to work as an assistant. So the place where Switzerland’s biggest names walked in and out on a daily basis turned into the place where Nickless learned from scratch all there is to know about working in a recording studio.
Four years have since passed, hence the name of his debut album “Four Years” released through Phonag Records AG. These four years have been essential for Nickless’s development as an artist and as a person. It was during this time that he made the decision to pursue his own music as a solo artist. All songs on the album were written by Nickless during these four years and show a glimpse into his life, the ups and downs and lessons along the way in love, friendship, disappointments, but also the carefree and free spirited feelings of youth.
The total of 12 songs he wrote which were also produced by his mentor Thomas Fessler are more than enough proof that Nickless knows how to write a catchy pop song that will linger in your ears long after you’ve heard it. He combines gripping and driven rhythms with different influences from Rock, Folk to Funk and Electro, letting go of any forms of confinements and conventions.
With “Four Years” Nickless presents us with his first body of work, which is both modern and timeless and fully represents his diverse skills within music. It’s no wonder that this Singer, Songwriter and Musician is rumoured to be the most promising young artist of Switzerland.
Despite us living in a time of Social Media and Casting Shows, he proves it possible to base a career start purely on talent, hard work and endurance. Nickless is also the only artist who made the unique journey from being a “Tea Boy” in a recording studio to playing some of the biggest stages Switzerland has to offer. Nickless handled all of his first steps so effortlessly and successfully that one can only lead to assume there is a very promising future ahead for the all round talent and his debut album “Four Years”.
“Four Years” was released on the 4th March through Phonag Records AG and is available everywhere via download, CD and streaming. You can expect to hear of further tour dates and Festival line up announcements by Nickless and his band these coming months.
Frozen
Nickless Lyrics

I just feel the cold
All colors seem to fade away
I can't reach my soul
I would stop running, if I knew there was a chance
It tears me apart to sacrifice it all but I'm forced to let go
Tell me I'm frozen but what can I do?
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I'm frozen but what can I do?
I can feel your sorrow
You won't forgive me,
but I know you'll be all right
It tears me apart that you will never know but I have to let go
Tell me I'm frozen but what can I do?
Can't tell the reasons I did it for you
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I'm frozen but what can I do?
Everything will slip away
Shattered pieces will remain
When memories fade into emptiness
Only time will tell its tale
If it all has been in vain
I can't feel my senses
I just feel the cold
Frozen...
But what can I do?
Frozen...
Tell me I'm frozen but what can I do?
Can't tell the reasons I did it for you
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I'm frozen, frozen...
The lyrics of Nickless's song "Frozen" depict the feeling of pain and sacrifice in a relationship. The theme of this song is emotional detachment and the numbness that one feels when they have been hurt severely. The first verse talks about how the singer has lost all their senses, and their world has been turned gray. They are unable to reach their soul and are forced to let go of something they were unwilling to lose. The singer would stop running if there was a chance to undo things, but the reality is one can't undo what's already been done.
The chorus emphasizes the desperation of the singer to convince the other person that they had to do everything for their sake, even when the truth turned into lies. They are willing to take blame and accept criticism, but nothing they can do now will change the past, and they are frozen in this moment. The second verse describes the other person's sorrow and resentment towards the singer for what they have done. The singer accepts that they might never be forgiven, but they hope the other person will eventually find peace.
The bridge reflects on the aftermath of the relationship, where everything has slipped away, all that remains are shattered pieces, and memories that fade into emptiness. It's uncertain if everything they gave was futile or not, but only time will tell its tale.
Overall, "Frozen" is a soul-stirring song about the discomfort and pain of lost love. It's a song about the emotional detachment that is felt when a relationship becomes damaged, and how the singer is now numb to the world and lost in their thoughts.
