If I were you
Nicks Stevie Lyrics

This night outside my window
Wasn't anyone's fault
When the moon rolls over the mountain
You are lost in your dreaming
Where is the wild, white rose?
I tried to explain it
To someone who was crying
My hands reach for something
For someone that could tell me
Wasn't anyone's fault
Not anyone's fault
With our crosses to bear
And our dreams that still live on
With our crosses to bear
And our dreams that still live on
If you were my love
However momentarily
Ooh ooh If I were the one
Who watched over your sleeping
You would never have been frightened
At all
At all
With our crosses to bear
And our dreams that still live on
With our crosses to bear
And our dreams that still live on
If you were my love
However momentarily
Ah ah If I were the one
Who watched over your sleeping
You would never have been frightened
At all
At all
At all
At all
Faithful
The lyrics to Stevie Nicks' "If I Were You" are poetic and introspective, reflecting on love and the idea of protection. The opening line, "Tonight there are no saviors," establishes a dark and lonely tone. The lyric suggests that the singer is feeling isolated and disconnected from any sense of hope or salvation.
The second line creates a juxtaposition that serves to highlight the hopelessness of the situation. The night outside the window is innocent and blameless, yet the singer's mood is bleak. The moon rolling over the mountain creates a visual metaphor for the passage of time, and the idea of being lost in one's dreams speaks to a sense of detachment from reality.
The mention of a "wild, white rose" further highlights the idea of something pure and good that has become lost or unattainable. The singer tries to comfort someone who is crying, perhaps offering the same reassurance that they themselves are seeking. The repeated refrain of "If you were my love" suggests a longing for connection and protection, perhaps from the cold and lonely world described in the opening lines.
Overall, "If I Were You" is a song that explores themes of loneliness, hopelessness, and the search for love and connection. The lyrics are poetic and introspective, inviting the listener to contemplate their own experiences of these feelings.

If this was a single, it would've fucking SMASHED. It would've been #1. It would've dominated. I feel the same with "Sister Honey" and "Some Become Strangers" and from "The Wild Heart" "Nothing Ever Changes" and from "The Other Side of the Mirror" "Cry Wolf. But most defenetly this song.
@AdamHaley
I actually agree with all those picks 100%
@HaydenOran
@@AdamHaley Haha I was 15 when I commented this and I STILL feel the same way lol.
@BarkleyConners
It could be tightened up and made into a commercial hit single either using her vocals or some other singers.
@mrsmadtux
