Nico started a successful career as a model in Berlin and Paris, studied acting at Lee Strasberg's New York Actor Studio. She then became part of the Swinging London scene, and had a short relationship with The Rolling Stones' Brian Jones and she recorded her first record in London in 1965, the single I'm Not Saying/The Last Mile, produced by Jimmy Page, for Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham's label Immediate Records. Thanks to Jones she met Andy Warhol in New York City and became part of Warhol's Factory, and Warhol introduced her to the Rock band The Velvet Underground, with whom she recorded the album "The Velvet Underground & Nico", featuring the legendary banana cover designed by Andy Warhol. The album has been named by numerous publications as one of the top 100 albums of all time, and is often considered one of history's 10 most influential albums by critics.
Nico later recorded several solo albums, including the folksy Chelsea Girl in 1967, followed by original albums such as The Marble Index and Desertshore, which were much darker and avant garde in style. She released several more albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including The End..., but died in 1988 from a cerebral hemorrhage after falling from her bike in Ibiza, Spain. She is buried in Berlin, next to her mother.

I'll Be Your Mirror
Nico Lyrics

Reflect what you are, in case you don't know
I'll be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you're home
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside, you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
'Cause I see you
I find it hard to believe you don't know
The beauty you are
But if you don't, let me be your eyes
A hand to your darkness, so you won't be afraid
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you
I'll be your mirror (reflect what you are)
I'll be your mirror (reflect what you are)
I'll be your mirror (reflect what you are)
I'll be your mirror (reflect what you are)
I'll be your mirror
Nico's song "I'll Be Your Mirror" is a beautiful expression of self-love and the desire to help someone see their own worth. The song starts with Nico offering to reflect back to someone their true self, in case they don't know it already. She wants to be like the wind, rain, and sunset in this person's life - always present, always reminding them of their own beauty. Nico then acknowledges that sometimes we all have moments where our thoughts become twisted and unkind, but she wants to stand next to this person to show them that they are blind to their true worth. She wants them to put down their hands and let her help them see themselves clearly. Nico truly believes this person is beautiful, and if they cannot see that beauty, she will be their eyes and their guide.
Through "I'll Be Your Mirror," Nico offers a powerful message of self-love and the importance of support in helping someone see their own worth. She recognizes that all of us need reminders of our own beauty, and the song is an invitation to lean on others for that support when necessary. It is a sweet and gentle love song that speaks to the heart.
Overall, "I'll Be Your Mirror" is a beautiful song about the power of reflection and seeing oneself clearly. It is a reminder that we are all beautiful and worthy of love, even when we cannot see it ourselves. Nico captures this sentiment perfectly in her lyrics and her delicate vocals, making this song a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences today.

The Primitives did an excellent cover of this great song. Beautified 1960s at it's very finest... this is how music sounds so magical from the depths of despair felt from a lover or another you like ♥
