I havent smoked a cigarette in my whole life. From what you say you are right it's easy not to try smoke , but I don't know what it's like to quit smoking. For me I use to feel confident because I wasn't smoker while my friends were smokers, but the more u know about life the harder it gets to control your emotion , I have always been obsessed controlling my emotion rather than cigarette calming me down, it's a really challenge but worth try it. The worst thing about smoking is that even if you get over the natural symptoms of dropping an addiction there's still someting missing. Smoking just kinda becomes this thing to do even if you don't crave the nicotine. When i tried droping it once i often found myself just holding a pen or a lolipop stick in my mouth just to satisfy the habit

I started to smoke when I was 16 and last year I've decided to quit. It's such a tough process, but so worth. Now, 24 years old and 16 months without cigarettes and alcohol and practicing exercises everyday, all I can say is: do not give up giving up bad habits. @Ellah Right after quitting is not that easy because there will be a lot of moments when the abstinence will make you wanna light a cigarette, so you need to avoid these moments as much as possible. For me, for example, used to be when I was in a party or something, during the morning after waking up, with some friends that smoke too, etc. However this feeling goes away sooner or later, and evertyhing becomes easier. So the longer you go without, the better and stronger you feel. And you will definitely feel great. Your breath, your energy, your mood, evertything will change together. Next month I will complete two years without that and I just wish I could have stopped before. Oh, and money, you save a lot of money, at least here in Brazil 'cause the straw cigarette isn't sheap and it was my favorite

Just hit two months free of nicotine. The worst part was the first week or so, but after that it gets easier and I feel so much healthier as far as my lungs and heart are concerned. If you’re fighting this battle, just know it’s worth it and you’ll be so much better off without needing this crutch to get you through the day.

My mom quit smoking in 2016 and now it's 2022 and I'm so happy that she's been able to beat the cigarette addiction and now she's calmed down and mentally better. I showed her this video and it really touched her, it's everything she would go through for years (stress, nervous breakdowns and she was a bit violent).

5 years sober and 5 years without a smoke, quit on the same day, it almost cost me my life getting through it but I'm in a great place now!!
First 3 months are without doubt the most difficult, if you can do that you can quit for life.

I stopped smoking for about 8 months now.
Every day if i make it till 5pm without smoking, i write my progress on a note,
It was never easy but writing a progress is very helpful for me,
I'm currently at day 264 now without nicotine replacement.
The hardest for me was day 3 day 7 and day 30 for me. I'm grateful i didn't give up

My grandpa was a heavy smoker when he was younger, been smoking for almost 50 years, he had trouble breathing and had to go to the clinic for health care every month. Soon after, he developed lung cancer and family had worried he might not live longer even doctor said he might last less than 2 or 3 years if it doesn't get better. Now that was 20 years ago, he, quit smoking right after he got out of the hospital now he's over 80 and he is the most healthiest old man in the family.

From 1 and ahalf packet of Bensons a day to 0 cigarette a day in just a month. Just make your mind and made a decision and stick to it. For first 2 to 3 weeks it was difficult as I felt the urge to smoke in every 30 to 45 mins, especially in stressful situations. Now it has been more than 10 months and I don't feel like smoking anymore.

My older sibling has been smoking ever since he was 15 and has always warned me to never smoke. don't even smoke cigarettes, it's pointless. It mostly relieves stress cause you've been waiting for that cigarette all day, so you're happy you finally have it. yall if you want to smoke well smoke weed atleast, but dont if you have low mental strenght. Just use it like a hot bath at the end of a stressing month or something, in a chill place, its very cool. But don't ever smoke like more than two times a week or even once, i wouldn't even recommend it once a week. Just a few times per year when you feel like it's really the good moment. it makes your mind more clear. but if you start smoking like more than 2 times a week, you should start to stop already before you get addicted.

Don't assume that it doesn't do permanent damage... it most certainly does, it just doesn't outright kill you, unless abused heavily over a long period of time. It's not that amazing that you can recover from it, considering it's a slow process.

I quit smoking almost 9 years ago and it was the best gift I did to myself. If you are trying to quit smoking, whenever you feel the urge to light a cigarette do something to get your mind off of it, take a shower, go for a walk, do some gardening or other things to keep you busy until the urge goes. It has helped me greatly and I managed to switch my addiction to cigarettes with a love for running and hiking so I quit a bad habit and got a good one.

NoobAkuma Worstgamer That's still good ! There is a difference to wanting something and doing it. For example I would love to constantly eat cake but I do a lot of sport so I can't put on weight. In this instance you want to smoke but you know it's healthier to not so you don't. It sounds awful but people lose weight with balanced diets so I don't see why people can't stop for good

My uncle was a hardcore smoker. Never saw him without a ciggie on the go. Well, his area recently had a fierce storm during the harsh winter months. It was totally unexpected , especially at the force it was. He got caught out and while unprepared. The prolonged exposure to the elements and the intense battering from the non stop sleet and snow storm left him in a very serious condition. The docs said a healthy person who didn't smoke would likely have recovered without any ongoing issues. But due to the smokes affect to the blood flow etc, he besically wound up having to get part of his arm amputated . The frostbite was too much by the time he was rescued. Even tho without the hand and fingers , there is not much he can do with what's left but they do say it's recommended that smokers try to leave a longer stub.....especially when you are aware that the risks of health issues are made worse when you in hail
But although it's obviously terribly sad, he did know the risks he took by smoking ...

Its been 888 days today, since I left Smoking. It has been a wonderfully inspired period of time for me. My physical changes are exceptional, i feel more relaxed now and I dont stink. I meditate on a regular basis which has helped me fight withdrawl as well.

I gave up smoking, drinking at the same time and at once!! There is no slowing down!! If you want to quit, just do it!!

I’ve been smoking for maybe 8 years and 560 days ago decided to quit.
It has been I think the better choice of my whole life.
Since then no cigarette were smoked, just a few cigars for big occasions. I feel so much more confident about myself about day-to-day life, and I feel free and healthier.
If I could give you only one advice it would be don’t give up and find a reason to fight for. It is normal if you don’t believe in yourself for the first months, but if you are doing this for you I’m sure you will succeed.

To those that wanna stop. Stop. Yeah it's hard but stop. Stop looking to others to tell you to stop. The weaker you let yourself be the more likely it is you'll relapse. I've been through addiction as well I know it's tough. But if you go to others instead of putting it on yourself, games over. You know the risks, you know you hate, throw the instant gratification away. Fight it, overcome it. Maybe go to the gym or develop a new habit to distract yourself. And don't count the days you've not smoked for. If you know, then it's still a part of your life. Stop it and move on, it's for you not anyone else. I watched this video 2 months ago, when quitting was (as usual) just a project. I remember how annoying was watching it, a truly unpleasant experience. Then, against all odds, after 20 STRAIGHT YEARS, despite being born by smoking parents, despite my only sibling is a smoker, a profoundly touching personal drama made me actually quit. I just passed the two months milestone. For the first time in my life I started exercising half an hour every day, still early to see results, but my mood is WAY higher. I’m saving a lot of money! Not only the price of 20 cigarettes every day, but also that occasional bottle of wine or beer and after all this thing is teaching me a lot of discipline! Also my diet has changed: cheaper and healthier. My teeth actually turn very white after I brush them! I’ve never been so steadily happy in my entire life. However, watching this video just reminded me how annoyed I was when experts were telling me exactly what would have happened after quitting.
This long story was simply to explain to everyone that “talking somebody out of cigarettes” is simply an impossible task. Give up, they will never follow nobody’s advices. Drama is the only way. Awful, life-changing, nauseating drama.

I was actually an occasional smoker in my 17's. Then when I turned 18, it increased to 2-3 sticks a day. Thankfully, pandemic came- I stopped smoking, because I heard how negatively impactful it can be especially to those who are smoking. So I guess the pandemic is a blessing in disguise.

I was a chain smoker for almost 10 years and now I'm 3 months cigarettes free. If I never had that flu last January maybe I am still smoking. I didn't even need those things that helps stop smoking. The flu helped me to stop smoking. My first week was hard, but if you can hold yourself for several minutes of urgency everytime you're feeling it then it'll pass. Another thing that helps is to stay away from people who smoke's , cuz it can trigger. Now I am proud that I have a first hand cigarette smoke free lungs. I know it takes time to reverse the effects, with exercise and proper diet i can feel my body is getting better and better each day past. If you want to live longer please STOP SMOKING!. The most effective thing that can help you stop smoking is "Your mindset". I know it, Ive done it!

I've quit 5 years ago. I just decided to quit and that was that. 5 years later, I realise what I was most addicted to was rolling the cigarettes and taking a break to smoke. I cannot find any way to take breaks like I used to when I smoked! It helped me greatly with creativity, socialising, relaxing, etc. And those are side effects of quitting! There aren't just good things but bad also. I still miss smoking and the benefits it brought me and I really was healthier mentally by know how to take breaks, how to relax how to socialise, etc. So I think that is a side of it no one talks about!

@shawarmageddonit You have to develop a good enough reason. The first time I quit it was because I thought it would halt my balding. The second time I quit was because it became too expensive, so I cut down until eventually I didn't even want them anymore. Now I only smoke cannabis, which satisfies my smoke cravings, but gets me high too; haha!

I’ve found quitting hard. Went onto vapes and got addicted badly to that, they were too easy to use. Went back to cigarettes and now 4 days no smoking. Forced due to being locked down but I’d already planned to quit and have patches which help, hopefully take advantage of it. I just have a bad habit of using them to relieve severe stress and my current situation with lockdowns, living in a foreign country and a job I hate is stressful so hoping I don’t give in when it’s tempting. I’ve quit maybe 5 times, longest for over a year 😭

If you guys are struggling to quit, a strategy I learned from an elementary teacher (I've never smoked) is that replace smoking with chewing gum or bubble gum (not the nicotine gum) because it's 1000x easier to replace something addictive with something else that could be addictive but doesn't kill you

Passed 10 days of quite smoking, i already feel healthy. Sleeping is now improving. Though it was not easy to do, i used to take approx 15 cigarettes a day but promised someone to quit smoking who is really mean everything to me. I having little headache during stress, but i fight with it. I really avoid smoking places and peoples. Its little hard to control your self while you see people smoking, but i eat instead something really healthy on that spot & that actually boost my confident everytime.

My dad used to smoke and when I was only 5 years old, he gave my brother (7 years old), my sister (6 years old) and myself a puff off of the cigarette that he was smoking. We all caughed our lungs out of course since we barely knew how to breath 😂

Fast forward 20 years later, my siblings and myself till this day despise cigarettes and even when I was offered them in my teenage years, I tried them but had absolute disgust for them.
