The band's first five albums sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and have sold 17 million albums total. After their success waned in the late 1980s, the band split up in 1989 and its members pursued other musical endeavours including group and solo efforts. Brad Gillis and Kelly Keagy teamed up with bassist Gary Moon and released an album without the other original band members in 1995, but the band soon re-united to release two new albums in the latter half of the decade.

And I was raised by a hard working mom
We didn't have as much that you'd call anything
But what we had was a whole lotta love
Alright
Then I met a girl from California
Her name was Feather or something like that
The kind of place The DEA would love to whack
She said, "Take my hand I've been here before
I need a barefoot lover wanna do it on the floor
I'm gonna live my life like there's no tomorrow
It's a beautiful wave" power to the peace sign
She didn't mind me asking lots of questions
About her beads or the way she wore her hair
She never shaved her legs looked kinda guy like
But what's the difference on a beach naked bare
So take my hand I've been here before
I need a barefoot lover wanna do it on the floor
I'm gonna live my life like there's no manana
It's a beautiful wave power to the peace sign
Oh happy day
Oh happy day
Power to the peace sign
Peace sign
Peace sign
Oh happy day
Oh happy day
Now here I am on some farm up in Oregon
Growing flowers at 50 cents a day
And Feather runs a multi mega corporation
Taking down millions oh, happy day
So take my hand I've been here before
I need a barefoot lover wanna do it on the floor
I'm gonna live my life like there's no tomorrow
It's a beautiful wave power to the peace sign
Take my hand I've been here before
I need a barefoot lover wanna do it on the floor
I'm gonna live my life like there's no manana
It's a beautiful wave power to the peace sign
Yea, yea, yea
Power to the peace sign
Yea, yea, yea
Power to the peace sign
Yea, yea, yea
Power to the peace sign
The lyrics of "Peace Sign" by Night Ranger depict the story of a man who was born in America and raised by a strong, hard-working mother. Despite not having much material wealth, they had an abundance of love. One day, he meets a girl from California named Feather, whose parents were hippies from a farm in Oregon. Feather and the singer have a connection, and she invites him to live life with her on the edge and embrace the "peace sign" philosophy.
Feather helps the singer let go of societal norms and expectations as they embrace a carefree lifestyle. They spend their days on the beach, with Feather playing the role of a barefoot lover, and the singer is happy to follow her lead. As they enjoy the moment, they do so with the philosophy of living life like there is no tomorrow, hence embracing the "peace sign" lifestyle.
The song ends with the singer working on a farm in Oregon, growing flowers for 50 cents a day, while Feather runs a multi-million dollar company, showing that they followed different paths in life. However, the sentiment of embracing life with a carefree and peaceful mentality remains constant throughout.
Overall, "Peace Sign" is a song that celebrates living in the moment, rejecting societal pressure and expectations, and embracing love and freedom.
