Touch Of Madness
Night Ranger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She wakes in the morning
Got a smile on her face
She's not sentimental
About her night's embrace
Another lucky day
Lucky night on the town
Man she got the touch
I say she wears the crown
She say
"I get high when I want to
Don't ya think you need it too"

I need a touch, I need a touch of madness [Repeat x2]

She changes by night
It's a crime in the street
She dazzles the boys
As she moves though the heat
Set out all alone
On a hot summer night
Man she got the touch
She makes you sweat all night
She say
"I get wild when I want to
Madness is the thing to do"

I need a touch, I need a touch of madness [Repeat x3]

I wake in the morning
With a smile on my face
Never sentimental
About my night's embrace
Another lucky day
Lucky night on the town
Now I got the touch
Now I make the rounds
I say
"I get off when I want to
Don't you want to feel it too"

I need a touch, I need a touch of madness [Repeat x3]

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Night Ranger's song Touch of Madness describe a woman who is carefree and bold. She wakes up in the morning with a smile on her face, indicating that she has no regrets about her night's escapades. She is not sentimental about her flings and lives in the moment. The woman is confident and has a way with men, as she dazzles them with her moves in the heat of the night. She exudes a sense of power as she enjoys life through her adventurous spirit, and even goes on to suggest that madness might be the way forward. Later in the song, the singer expresses his own need for a touch of madness, suggesting that the thrilling and reckless lifestyle of the woman in question is the key to his own contentment.

I find the lyrics to be a celebration of spontaneity, adventure, and living in the moment. The woman described is free from the constraints of society and is unafraid to indulge in her desires. The focus is on the enjoyment of life, rather than restricting oneself to societal norms. The singer acknowledges that the way to true happiness is by adopting a sense of madness and spontaneity, embracing the wild side of life.

Night Ranger could ROCK! I saw them on their first big tour opening for Sammy Hagar in 1982, and New Years Eve 1983 with Y&T (Remember THEM!)! After 'Sister Christian' became a big hit the Record Company wanted them to do more Ballads, and it hurt their ROCK CRED! Kind of like with Foreigner! :(
