2004 late at night on the highway with friends on a weekend trip to Munich. The car shot like an arrow through the darkness above the asphalt, accompanied by this song, Tarja Turunen's fantastic voice, and the overwhelming feeling of weightlessness in an infinite black space. Back then, the song took us to our destination.

Today it takes me back to a glorious past.

Perfect description. I was in a dark place back then too. Listening to this in the obscurity of my rented apartment while studying in university Ina far away place. It didn't helped my sister used to sing this. So sometimes had to listen to this. Among the other metal bands that were my drug to Overcoming moments of loneliness

I was attending elementary school and my class was in the computer Lab, me being a curious kid I was browsing around YouTube and came across a video of the British ocean liner Britannic sinking with this song playing in the background. I am now 28, I didn't know then that I would spend the rest of my life coming back and listening to this song every now and then, music is an amazing thing.

This comment is for my amazing dad, with whom I never had a chance to say goodbye❤️ My father loved metal and this band was one of his favorites. When I hear this song, I want to cry because the last thing we could do for him was to pick his favorite songs, including this one, and let them play at his funeral. The cancer he had once defeated has returned, and unfortunatelly he lost his fight. He died when I was child but I will love him forever and he will never be forgotten.

This song was written for the August 11 solar eclipse in 1999. I still remember the strange darkness and chill setting in the middle of a sunny day. And six days later, right on Tarja's birthday, we had the biggest earthquake in our history (until then, unfortunately we had a bigger one last month) and our lives have never been the same again. This song means so much to me.

I heard this song for the first time in 2005. It completely fascinated me and it still fascinates me today. Tarja and Nightwish became my band of choice. I still listen to Tarja and Nigthwish today. I'm just very sorry I didn't have time to visit their concert with Tarja and Marko Hietala. I am 73 years old and in December I was at the Nigtwish concert in Prague. At least I got my wish that way.

2007 for me. It was used by a fan in an Anime Music Video over scenes of sad character deaths -- couldn't care about most of them, but the song utterly captivated me. And the video got deleted so I was looking for so long for it, then I got the song recommended to me randomly two years later. And I didn't have the song's name or even the people who made it. I was looking with utterly nothing.

'Wait,' I said to myself when I saw the track listed. 'Sleeping Sun... Why does that stick out to me?' And I listened to it and I was immediately gasping with shock because it was that song. And I immediately started listening to Elvenpath and Ever Dream and the covers of Phantom Of The Opera and Walking In The Air.

Tarja was already gone by that point - it was around the release of Imaginaerum. But I discovered a great band thanks to this song.

Spectacular song, love the lyrics and the images the song evokes.

I am new to Nightwish and have been listening to a variety of their songs and performances. The blend of prog and metal with a female vocalist resonates. Floor's vocals have a certain raw quality to them that brings out the metal side. Tarja's have a more operatic quality, a fantastic voice. There is a certain ethereal quality to the whole thing. That's why it's called symphonic metal and Nightwish is fabulous. Thanks to all and especially to the vision of Tuomas Holopainen.

My only quibble is that I wish some of the songs, including this one, had longer instrumental sections. I watched the Hellfest 2022 performance and the last 2 songs, Ghost Love Score and Greatest Show on Earth, demonstrated that they certainly have the chops to do it.

I have not been this excited about finding a new band to listen to in decades (I'm 67).

Tarja owns it in this original studio version, but live she struggled with the breathing at times. Floor never struggles with breathing, but whether you prefer one voice or another on a particular song is just a matter of personal preference.
