On & on
Nikka Costa Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Scream so loud, I wake the neighborhood
Gonna write a song 'bout the way you do it
Baby, don't fuck around, put your back into it, yeah
Make your mama sing like a gospel choir
Now I'm hearing things baby, I'm on fire
Watch your mama work it till we both retire
We don't love to talk it over
Let's just get it on and on, and on, and on
I'm getting sticky just thinking 'bout ya
Bend your mama over let's work it out
Ain't nothing wrong with how we do
Baby, make me smile with your groove
On and on, and on, and on
We don't have to talk it over
Let's just get it on and on, and on, and on
C'mon
We don't have to talk it over
Let's just get it on and on, and on, and on
On and on, and on
On and on, and on, and on
The lyrics of Nikka Costa's "On & On" are steamy and seductive, encouraging someone to "make [their] mama proud like a real man should". The song is all about passion and unbridled lust, as the singer urges their partner to "put your back into it" and "watch your mama work it till we both retire". Rather than sitting down to talk things over, the singer is eager to get down to business, exclaiming "we don't have to talk it over, let's just get it on and on, and on, and on".
Throughout the song, there is a focus on physical pleasure and indulgence, with lines like "I'm getting sticky just thinking 'bout ya" and "bend your mama over let's work it out". The overall message seems to be one of living in the moment and giving into your desires, without worrying about the consequences or what others may think.

Is it just me or does she remind yall of Janis Joplin? The way she feels the music and sings it? She's awesome! Very underrated!

Yes and no. Vocally I think she's got more in common with 'perfect' and 'My house' era Vanessa Amorosi.. She's a very passionate girl but I think comparing anyone to Janis as far as soul and stage presence is suicide, in her day Janis was considered to be only rivaled by Elvis in that regard.

Anybody who wants to hear a criminally underrated band look up The Broken Homes. Kreg Ross's pre, getting the gig of his life with Lenny Kravitz, band. Stellar.

Kind of reminds me of Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant would be proud of the next generation screamers and Page with the leading guitar in this tune.
