Tonight and the Rest of My Life
Nina Gordon Lyrics

With dripping wings
Heavy things won't fly
And the sky might catch on fire
And burn the axis of the world
That's why
I prefer a sunless sky
To the glittering and stinging in my eyes
I feel so light
This is all I want to feel tonight
I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Tonight and the rest of my life
Gleaming in the dark sea
I'm as light as air
Floating there breathlessly
When the dream dissolves I open up my eyes
I realize that
Everything is shoreless sea
Weightlessness is passing over me
I feel so light
This is all I want to feel tonight
I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Tonight and the rest of my life
Everthing is waves and stars
The universe is resting in my arms
I feel so light
This is all I want to feel tonight
I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
I feel so light
This is all I want to feel tonight
I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Tonight and the rest of my life
The opening lines of Nina Gordon's "Tonight and the Rest of My Life" paint a picture of a falling angel. With dripping wings, they plummet towards the earth, weighed down by heavy things that won't let them fly. The sky, with all its glittering beauty, is a dangerous place, with the potential to catch fire and burn the axis of the world. In contrast, the singer prefers a sunless sky, one that won't blind or sting them.
As the song progresses, the singer describes feeling weightless and free, like they're floating in a dark sea. They're as light as air, and when the dream dissolves, they're left staring out at a world that's infinite and limitless. There are waves and stars all around, and the universe itself seems to be cradled in their arms, as if they could hold it all together.
Overall, "Tonight and the Rest of My Life" is a song about feeling unburdened and free. It's about escaping the constraints of the world and finding a place of weightlessness and peace.
