I want you to hear it and fall apart
I wanna be there when the tears fall from your eyes
I wanna see it in you face when you realize
Turn on your radio and listen to these words as I repeat them
You have lost me, you have lost me
Turn on your radio and listen to these words till you believe them
Don't know where you are tonight
If there is someone sleeping by your side
But I'm gonna write it with my airplane in your sky
And you're gonna read it on a billboard when you're driving by
Turn on your radio and listen to these words as I repeat them
You have lost me, yeah, you have lost me
Turn on your radio and listen to these words till you believe them
You have lost me, yeah, you have lost me
Turning over the airwaves, loud and clear so you can hear me
And over the new world so you can sing it in your sleep
And no matter where you go I'll be right there in stereo
I wanna be there when the tears fall from your eyes
I wanna see it in you face when you realize
Turn on your radio and listen to these words as I repeat them
You have lost me, yeah, you have lost me
Just turn on your radio and listen to these words till you believe them
You have lost me, yeah, you have lost me
Turn on your radio
Till you believe that you have lost me
You have lost me, you have
Turn on your radio
Till you believe that you have lost me
Yeah, you have lost me this time
Nina Gordon's "Turn On Your Radio" is a bittersweet song about a past relationship that has ended. The singer of the song wants to create a song that will break the heart of the person who has lost her. She wishes to see the pain in the former lover's face when the person realizes that they have lost her. The singer admits not knowing where the former lover is or if they are with someone else, but promises to write their heartbreak on a billboard for them to see when they drive by.
The song's chorus is an appeal for the former lover to listen to the singer's words on the radio and to believe that they have lost her. The singer emphasizes her message by turning "over the airwaves, loud and clear so you can hear me" and "over the new world so you can sing it in your sleep." The repetition of the chorus is an indication of the singer's determination for the message to sink in, just as she is determined to move on from the relationship.
"Turn On Your Radio" is a poignant song about unrequited love and the struggle to move on from relationships. The singer desires to express her pain to the former lover, so they can feel the same heartbreak she feels. The song's message is that no matter where the former lover goes, the singer will always be a part of them, in stereo.
