Nastasia has released six albums so far, the first of which, Dogs, was initially released in 2000 in a miniscule edition of 1000 copies on Socialist Records. The album sold out quickly and her subsequent albums, The Blackened Air (2001) and Run to Ruin (2003) were released on indie label Touch and Go Records. The label also re-released Dogs in 2004. All three albums were recorded by Steve Albini, as were later albums released on Fat Cat Records. These include On Leaving in 2006 and You Follow Me (produced in collaboration with Jim White) in 2007. Her sixth and most recent album, Outlaster, was also recorded by Steve Albini and was released in June 2010, preceded by the single Cry, Cry, Baby in May.
Nastasia was a favorite of late BBC disc jockey John Peel and recorded six sessions for his shows. The last one was recorded with the help of Tuvan throat singing group Huun-Huur-Tu. Nastasia also contributed a song to the tribute compilation for Peel named "Bird of Cuzco". Two of Nastasia's songs made Peel's annual Festive Fifty: "Ugly Face" (ranked 4th in 2002) and "You, Her & Me" (13th in 2003).

Dear Rose
Nina Nastasia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everything you gave me
You gave me everything
Everything
And I do apologize
And hope you'll think of me
As someone who'd do anything
In the song "Dear Rose" by Nina Nastasia, she addresses someone named Rose directly. The lyrics describe how Nastasia has lost or misplaced everything that Rose had given her. Rose had apparently given her everything, and Nastasia expresses her regret for losing those things. She then apologizes to Rose and hopes that Rose will still think of her fondly as someone who would do anything for her.
There are multiple interpretations of the lyrics, but one possible meaning is that Rose represents someone who gave Nastasia everything she needed emotionally or materially. Nastasia might have taken that kindness for granted and now realizes their importance after losing whatever Rose had given her. Nastasia also acknowledges her mistake and expresses her willingness to make things right, even if she has lost those things forever.
Overall, the song "Dear Rose" reflects on the fragility of human relationships and the need to cherish the people who matter to us. It also suggests that even if we make mistakes and hurt others, we can still ask for forgiveness and try to make amends.

Dear rose, I misplaced
My beloved rose, I have unfortunately lost something that you have given me
Everything you gave me
I have lost all of the things that you have given to me
You gave me everything
You have given me everything that I could have ever asked for
Everything
This word is repeated to emphasize the extent of what I have lost
And I do apologize
I am deeply sorry for losing your gifts
And hope you'll think of me
I hope that despite my mistake, you will remember me fondly
As someone who'd do anything
I want you to see me as a person who is willing to go to great lengths for you
Anything for you
Once again, I emphasize that I am willing to do anything to make up for my mistake and show my love for you
