Nastasia has released six albums so far, the first of which, Dogs, was initially released in 2000 in a miniscule edition of 1000 copies on Socialist Records. The album sold out quickly and her subsequent albums, The Blackened Air (2001) and Run to Ruin (2003) were released on indie label Touch and Go Records. The label also re-released Dogs in 2004. All three albums were recorded by Steve Albini, as were later albums released on Fat Cat Records. These include On Leaving in 2006 and You Follow Me (produced in collaboration with Jim White) in 2007. Her sixth and most recent album, Outlaster, was also recorded by Steve Albini and was released in June 2010, preceded by the single Cry, Cry, Baby in May.
Nastasia was a favorite of late BBC disc jockey John Peel and recorded six sessions for his shows. The last one was recorded with the help of Tuvan throat singing group Huun-Huur-Tu. Nastasia also contributed a song to the tribute compilation for Peel named "Bird of Cuzco". Two of Nastasia's songs made Peel's annual Festive Fifty: "Ugly Face" (ranked 4th in 2002) and "You, Her & Me" (13th in 2003).

That's All There Is
Nina Nastasia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The world is spinning faster each day
And I am not the one
My future promised I'd be
I'm not hiding anything
I'm not trying to fool you at all
You keep expecting everything
We're not like our pictures on the wall
We still belong
But that's all there is
So stop all your dreamin
It makes me so sad
Let's keep what we had
Sundays never last
It seems like it's the only time you'll sleep
And you can't help looking back
At everything you promised we would see
You go out almost every night
Pretending you're like everyone you meet
But all I ever want is you
All I ever want for you to see
There's nothing wrong with us
We still belong
But that's all there is
So stop all your dreamin'
It make sme so sad
Let's keep what we had
In the song "That's All There Is" by Nina Nastasia, the singer reflects on the passing of time and the realization that their dreams may not have come true. The song starts with the declaration that the singer's dreams have already gone by, and imagery of the world spinning faster each day creates a sense of urgency and fleetingness. The singer acknowledges that they are not the person their future promised, possibly indicating that they feel they fell short of their own expectations or the expectations of others. The line "we're not like our pictures on the wall" suggests a disconnect between the past and present selves.
The chorus, "But that's all there is / So stop all your dreamin / it makes me so sad / Let's keep what we had," contains a mix of resignation and nostalgia. The singer seems to be urging their partner to accept the reality of their situation and appreciate what they do have. The line "Sundays never last" further reinforces the theme of time slipping away, and the suggestion that the partner is "pretending you're like everyone you meet" may indicate a sense of dissatisfaction or restlessness.
