16 all apologies
Nirvana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What else should I be
All apologies
What else could I say
Everyone is gay
What else could I write
I don't have the right
What else should I be
All apologies

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried

I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest of salt
Everything's my fault
I take all the blame
Aqua seafoam shame
Sunburn, freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Married
Married
Buried

All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are

All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "All Apologies" by Nirvana touch on themes of self-doubt, confusion, and regret. The song begins with the opening lines "What else should I be? / All apologies," which suggest that the singer feels he is at fault for something, but is not sure what that something is. He goes on to sing "Everyone is gay," perhaps suggesting that everyone is happy and carefree, and he feels left out of this mood.

The next lines of the song, "What else could I write? / I don't have the right," suggest that the singer feels inadequate as a writer or communicator, and is unsure of what to say or how to express himself effectively. Then he switches to talking about his own actions and feelings, with lines like "I take all the blame" and "Everything's my fault," indicating a sense of guilt about something he has done or failed to do. The final verse, "In the sun / In the sun I feel as one," describes a feeling of unity or oneness that the singer experiences in a certain setting, although the meaning of this is not entirely clear.

Overall, "All Apologies" is a song that deals with complex emotions and self-doubt, expressed through introspective and somewhat cryptic lyrics. It is a reflection of the artistic and emotional depth of the band Nirvana and is widely regarded as one of their most iconic and influential songs.

It’s funny that Kurt was nervous to play this show and it turned out to be one of the best acoustic performances of all time! Here we are nearly 30 years later and we still are in aw over this performance.

If you notice, the room had no movement. I remember when he started this song with the opening, everyone was silent. It was a little bit like a trance that everyone was in. Totally silent. No noise as they played. It really wasn't like any other show I had been to before. I'll never forget that night in New York. Flying home after an amazing nirvana show.

@tahnirene

I hope u know how lucky u are

@timsmith4174

Also it wasn't open to a public audience its not like they sold tickets. So unless you have solid proof I don't believe it because all unplugged venues are either just MTV producers\workers or companies that promote the band. No photos no proof

@537productions

+Will Stocks wasn't this one of the last songs??
