Rape Me
Nirvana Lyrics
Rape me, rape me my friend
Rape me, rape me again
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one
Hate me
Do it and do it again
Waste me Rape me, my friend
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one
My favorite inside source
I'll kiss your open sores
Appreciate your concern
You're gonna stink and burn
Rape me, rape me my friend
Rape me, rape me again
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one, ah-ah
I'm not the only one
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me (rape me)
Rape me

Rape Me is a song by the American grunge band Nirvana. The song was released as the second single from Nirvana's 1993 album In Utero, packaged as a double a-side along with "All Apologies."
"Rape Me" was written by Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain in an apartment in Los Angeles, California in May 1991, around the time the band's second album, Nevermind (1991), was being mixed. It was first performed live on June 18, 1991, at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California, and subsequently played several times at Nirvana concerts during the next two years. These early live versions featured a dissonant, semi-improvised "anti-solo" after the second chorus, which was replaced by a bridge in the song's final incarnation.
The band had wanted to debut it at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on September 9, but MTV insisted on them playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" instead. According to the Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven, the network's reasoning was not so much due to the controversial usage of the word "rape," but rather because they assumed Cobain was using the song to jab at the media (and MTV) for their abuse of his celebrity status. (Only weeks earlier, a Vanity Fair article depicting Cobain and his wife Courtney Love as unfit parents nearly resulted in the removal of their newborn child Frances Bean Cobain from their custody. MTV News was one of the media sources who reported this story.) Nirvana ultimately settled on playing their then-latest single "Lithium." However, to show their disapproval of MTV's insistence, "Lithium" was preceded by the first 5 seconds of "Rape Me." The opening chords and the song's title lyrics were sung twice, and MTV was seconds away from pulling their performance off the air and going to a commercial when the band abruptly stopped the song and went into the intro of "Lithium."
The song was first recorded in the studio by Jack Endino in October 1992 in Seattle, Washington.
The studio version of "Rape Me" that appears on In Utero was recorded by Steve Albini in February 1993. In December of that year, it was released alongside "All Apologies" as the album's second single. A music video was considered but never made.

EN-ES-PT-FR-IT-DE (EN) Kurt Cobain explains the real meaning of "Rape Me": “Basically, I was trying to write a song that supported women and dealt with the issue of rape. Over the last few years, people have had such a hard time understanding what our message is, what we're trying to convey, that I just decided to be as bold as possible. How hard should I stamp this point? How big should I make the letters? It's not a pretty image. But a woman who is being raped, who is infuriated with the situation… it's like "Go ahead, rape me, just go for it, because you're gonna get it." I'm a firm believer in karma, and that motherfucker is going to get what he deserves, eventually. That man will be caught, he'll go to jail, and he'll be raped. So rape me, do it, get it over with. Because you're gonna get it worse.”
Quão grande devo fazer as letras? Então me estupra, faça, acabe logo."
Quell'uomo verrà scoperto, andrà in prigione, e verrà stuprato. Quindi stuprami, avanti finisci. Perchè riceverai di peggio".

(EN) Kurt Cobain talks about rape: “Rape is one of the most terrible crimes on earth and it happens every few minutes. The problem with groups who deal with rape is that they try to educate women about how to defend themselves. What really needs to be done is teaching men not to rape. Go to the source and start there."

(EN) Kurt Cobain on the lost of innocence: “I think my generation is the last generation that has enjoyed having innocence in the United States. When I was a kid, there TV shows weren’t so violent, and kids didn’t have access to restricted movies; I wasn’t aware of rapists, killers and things like that. But know 6 year old kids know about sex and realize there’s a lot of violence in the world because now there’s better media. And it’s sad to know that the next generations will be fucked because there’s no chance that they have innocence. And for a kid it is absolutely necessary to have a period of innocence in his life even if it’s for a few years.”

Kurt did so much, literally didn't stand for any of men's misogynistic shit, stopped a sexual assault at his concert, helped so many people and even when he's with the angels he still manages to help so many people
